It’s hard staying healthy when you live a sedentary lifestyle.
- I wake up in the morning and I start working at my desk which is 10 feet away from my bed.
The only times I get up during my shift are coffee and food breaks. My parents talk to me on Zoom calls at least twice a week and they say that they’re worried about my health. They told me to schedule a checkup appointment with my general physician as soon as the doctor could see me. My doctor ordered lab tests to make sure my sugar and cholesterol levels weren’t too high. Like he feared, my sugar levels needed to be brought down lower to avoid developing type 2 diabetes. My cholesterol levels were too high as well. Aside from an improved diet, my doctor encouraged me to join a gym to start exercising every week. I was stressed out because I had never been in a gym or fitness center before and didn’t have the slightest clue of what I was supposed to do once I went inside. I asked the person behind the desk and they encouraged me to join a group physical training class. She explained that they were offering more group physical training classes now that the pandemic is slowly improving. There were cross fit classes, yoga classes, pilates, and group weight training. I decided to go with the group weight training because that’s what I had the most interest in among the many choices. Hopefully I can finally get healthy again with my new gym membership.
