Solar heating can destroy your furniture.

When I realized how high my energy bills were while I was in the summer, I knew it was because of how difficult all of us had to run the air conditioner unit. We lived in what some people would consider a glasshouse. We have 3 walls that are solid glass; the front as well as sides of our house. For nearly the entire day, the sun is coming through those windows. I suppose I didn’t realize just how terrible the sun was for my home, not only was it causing a lot of solar heating in the house, but it was destroying my furniture. What used to be a deep gray color was now only dark gray on the unused side of the pillows, all the color was being drained from my furniture. The paint on my walls was not only fading, but it was cracking as well as peeling. My wood floors were drying out. To keep my house from becoming unbearably warm, my air conditioner was running nearly nonstop. I knew I had to do something, or not only was my air conditioner going to be splitting from overuse, but I would have to redo my entire downstairs… Our Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C dealer told us about solar powered window blinds. Once they were in venue, when the sun got to a particular position on the windows, the blinds would automatically close. I had never thought of my house as being modern, but with solar powered blinds not only was the inside of my house protected from further disfigure, but I wasn’t using the air conditioner nearly as much as I had been.
