Do you remember the last time the two of us tried to install the AC unit?

Last week, my husband and I were watching the HVAC technicians install our new HVAC system.

For two years, we had been noticing a big reduction in the amount of air conditioning that we were getting into our house.

We were getting less AC, less airflow, and more noise coming from the AC unit. Our furnace seemed to run a lot longer, to get the same amount of heat that we got in previous years. When we talked to the HVAC company, they went back through their records and told us that our HVAC system was indeed getting ready to expire since it was over 20 years old. As my husband sat and watched them doing the installation, he turned to me and asked if I remembered the last time the two of us had tried to install an AC unit? That was long before we had our first central HVAC system. We had bought a huge window air conditioning unit that the store clerk had convinced us would cool our entire house. We struggled, trying to get the air conditioning unit out of the box. We struggled to get the AC unit up onto the windowsill. We struggled to get the air conditioning unit settled into the window. After all the struggling, we had to struggle to take the AC unit back out of the window and place it back into the box. Although the AC unit probably could have cooled our entire main floor, we didn’t have a window in the house that the AC unit would fit into.
