I have gotten smarter when it comes to booking hotel rooms.
I used to look online for the cheapest room in the best area.
Now I have a little more money and a lot more experience traveling. I would rather pay more for a better room and not do as many things on vacation. The room is so important. You need space to put your suitcase, purchases and stretch out. When you get a better room, you get better accommodations. My husband is more likely to get free breakfast in the morning and I am getting a gym to workout in. We are both much happier with this. Also a better room means the HVAC situation is superior. I have been in hotel rooms where the AC is leaking all over the floor or even spits water out. That was absolutely horrible to deal with. The smell was pretty bad too. I have also dealt with a room that claimed to have a heater but didn’t actually have one. Now that I get a better room, there is usually a thermostat right there to adjust. My husband and I can agree on a medium temperature to be comfortable. Is it worth an extra 50-100 bucks a day to sleep better on vacation? I say yes to that. I like having perfect temperature control and a good space to sleep in at night. Since I have so many demands now I do quite a bit more research. I pay more attention to the interior of the room in pictures and will even call the hotel to find out the HVAC situation.
