It was quite a shock when my uncle’s lawyer called with some news.
We had just attended his funeral a week before and went back home.
My partner and I made sure we visited him in the home before he passed away. My uncle was all alone after his only son passed away a year before, so we ensured he felt lots of love. I was in the backyard when my partner said there was a phone call for us, and the lawyer insisted we listen together. He said my uncle had a house in a lovely neighborhood that he’d been renting out to cover costs at the home. This house was ours, and some money was available to renovate it. It was my uncle’s dying wish we move into the house, renovate it and make it our home. After discussing this, my partner and I decided to honor his dying wish and went to work upgrading the home. Some of the work to be done was upgrading the ductwork in this home. We also had to purchase and install a new HVAC system since the one available was almost 12 years old. My partner has a friend who is an HVAC expert, so he came by to inspect the heating and cooling. After the complete HVAC inspection, he concluded we needed urgent ductwork that involved cleaning and sealing before installing the new HVAC system. We were thankful we had the money to pay for the extensive HVAC work in the house because it wasn’t cheap. For instance, we paid almost $5500 to buy and install a modern energy-efficient HVAC system.
