For the most part, I am unquestionably careful when it comes to using excess energy in our home, and I am trying our best to reduce my carbon footprint wherever I can.
I drive less than I did before, I recycle and have taken measures to reduce the waste that I create in our home.
In addition, I have also cut back on using our A/C, we need to use the A/C for comfort especially during the summer. But the A/C contributes a lot to global warming, due to the giant amounts of electricity it takes to power the units, and some of the coolants used emit toxic gasses into the ozone, as you actually already know, climate change is becoming a major issue, and it will take all of us to play our parts in tackling this problem. We can’t maintain everything, but we can make small changes in our lives to conserve energy. If you pay attention to your power bill, there are consistently tips on how to conserve more energy, so even the power companies are well aware of the issue. In fact, our utility supplier constantly sends me emails on energy USAge, and how to conserve and save cash on our utility bill. I am already practicing most of the tips that they have recommended, for instance, I have increased the temperature on our temperature control from 75 degrees to 78 degrees during the day! The Department of Energy recommends setting our temperature controls to 75 degrees in the summer. So, I am doing more than what is commanded. And to our surprise, setting our temperature control to 76 degrees is more comfortable than I thought it would be.
