My husband and I always went to the same hotel near the beach, for our anniversary.
Although the hotel was one of the oldest on the beach, it was always clean and had excellent service.
The HVAC system never failed us, and we enjoyed being so close to the beach that all we had to do was step out of the patio doors and we were there. This past summer, we got to the hotel, and we walked back out. It was hotter than the beach in the middle of summer. The HVAC system had gone out and the air conditioning was non-existent. The lobby was so hot that the concierge desk was closed and everyone was walking around in shorts and a t-shirt instead of their uniforms. We asked when the AC was going to be turned on, but they didn’t know. The desk clerk said they weren’t sure if the HVAC company was even called. I asked for our deposit back and we headed to another hotel. It wasn’t as near to the beach, but it was within walking distance. When we walked into the lobby, the air conditioning greeted us, but not the desk clerk. There was a sign on the desk saying no vacancy. We headed to another hotel, but the same thing happened. The closest we could get to the beach was half an hour away. We shrugged and stayed at the hotel. It had excellent HVAC and even if we didn’t get to the beach; we discovered at least ten wineries in the area. They all offered free tours and wine tasting.
