With summer getting hotter each year, my husband and I have decided to forego our annual Christmas trip and instead invest the money in a new HVAC system for our house.
This past summer was an absolute nightmare for our family; our home air conditioning failed in the middle of a heat wave.
Before it failed, we experienced sudden shutdowns with the heat pump, which indicated a problem. We had to move to my parent’s house for a week as the cooling specialist came around to assess the situation. The a/c rep found that the air conditioning filter needed replacement despite us having changed it a month before summer started. They also found the cooling equipment installed for our house was inefficient for our home and would need to be changed for us to avoid more issues in the future. The air conditioning expert explained that a temporary air conditioning repair and maintenance would carry us through the rest of the summer. However, apart from a routine air conditioner tune-up at the end of the season, we would need to invest in new and better cooling technology. We thought a new system was a bit extreme and even believed the specialist was only looking to find more customers for their air conditioning business. We knew after learning more about air conditioning challenges that our neighbors, who moved into the area around the same time as we did, were facing. Our Christmas shopping now consists of contacting the HVAC expert for air conditioning installation and learning about the best cooling products for our home. It sounds sad that we won’t be opening gift boxes in a cabin far from home, but the following summer will be worry-free, delayed gratification for the win!
