Hello heat pump and goodbye gas furnace

I’m so glad that this move didn’t come with a bunch of second guessing.

I’m known for over thinking decisions and then regretting them.

However, the fact it was early fall and we had the heating crank in the car with snow flurries in the air sure helped. For me, I was completely over the cold in the snow and it was time to trade the gas furnace for a heat pump. I was just ready to be done with all those high heating costs as well. Of course, the summer heat where we were going is a bit of a trade-off. But I’d much rather conserve on HVAC cooling than freeze in the sort of winter that we just left. Yet, it was tough leaving the people we knew and the surroundings that we’re familiar with. Fortunately, my wife and I don’t have kids so we didn’t have to yank anybody out of school. When I got the job offer to join this office way down south, I brought it up to my partner. Of course, it didn’t take much convincing and when I saw the zone controlled HVAC of the office, I was sold. We’re able to find a really nice house which came with great residential HVAC. But there is no gas furnace. We’ve been here now for a few years and it really was the best decision we ever made. While it took a while to get a little used to the summer heat, thankfully all the air conditioning really does help us manage those four months of the worst to heat. But the rest of the year is better than anything I could even imagine.
