My space heater was overheating.

I unplugged it, but when I plugged it in, it wouldn’t start again

I don’t have heat in my office, and I was using a space heater to keep me warm when I was working. I knew it was a stupid thing to do, because the space heater I bought did not have a thermostat. It was on, or it was off. My husband told me he didn’t think it was safe to use the space heater, because it was on carpeting. He wanted me to get a fireproof pad and put the space heater on it, but it was too hot to touch. I told him I would buy one, but I never got around to it. I would go into my office to work, and turn the space heater. Whenever I went out, even if it was to go to the bathroom, I would turn it off. The heat wasn’t steady when I was doing this, but it would just continue to blow heat until I was sweating. My husband came into the room one afternoon and left the door open. He said as hot as it was in my office, we could heat the entire downstairs. I didn’t think he was funny, but the cool air that came into the room felt room good. One afternoon, I called my husband and told him the space heater was overheating. I couldn’t turn it off, and it was almost ninety degrees in the room. I unplugged it, but when I plugged it in, it wouldn’t start again. My husband told me I was lucky I didn’t burn the house down when he finally came upstairs. There were burnt marks on the floor where the space heater was sitting.
