I got stuck in a snowstorm on my way apartment from college.
The Heating, Ventilation, & A/C method in my automobile wasn’t laboring well, & I was stuck on the interstate.
The only thing that kept me from frigid to death in my car, was an offramp with a hotel sign right at the end. When I got inside, everyone was clamoring to get a room. I had forgotten my wallet in the car, & I didn’t have a credit card. A truck driver was standing there, & heard me. She handed her credit card to the lady at the desk & told her to get me a room. She asked which automobile was mine, & before I knew what was happening, she was walking out the door… Before she got back the power went out in the hotel. I was standing in a dark room with no heat, again, & no food. I was weary, hungry, cold, & wanting a shower. There was a knock on the door, & I looked out to see the truck driver. She brought my wallet up from the car, & had the automobile towed up to the hotel. There was food in a bag, & a note with an address on it. She brought more than one extra blankets for me & told me to have a great evening. The note told me what I owed him for the tow & the room. It was miserable without Heating, Ventilation, & A/C in the car, & worse to be in a hotel without lights or Heating, Ventilation, & A/C, although I found out that nice people still existed in the world. I sent him a check as soon as I got home.
