There was food in a bag, and a note with an address on it.
I got stuck in a snowstorm on my way home from school. The HVAC system in my car wasn’t working well, and I was stuck on the interstate. The only thing that kept me from freezing to death in my car, was an offramp with a hotel sign right at the end. When I got inside, everyone was clamoring to get a room. I had forgotten my purse in the car, and I didn’t have a credit card. A truck driver was standing there, and heard me. He handed his credit card to the woman at the desk and told her to get me a room. He asked which car was mine, and before I knew what was happening, he was walking out the door. Before he got back the power went out in the hotel. I was sitting in a dark room with no heat, again, and no food. I was tired, hungry, cold, and wanting a shower. There was a knock on the door, and I looked out to see the truck driver. He brought my purse up from the car, and had the car towed up to the hotel. There was food in a bag, and a note with an address on it. He brought two extra blankets for me and told me to have a good night. The note told me what I owed him for the tow and the room. It was miserable without HVAC in the car, and worse to be in a hotel without lights or HVAC, but I found out that nice people still existed in the world. I sent him a check as soon as I got home.
