When we went on a short vacation to a farm, I wasn’t sure what to expect.
Normally we’d go to resorts or cabins for holidays.
But this time my partner and I wanted a different experience. There was this farm that also had holiday cabins and horses. So, we thought seeing the animals and crops would be the change we were longing for. This was a small farm and the most perfect place we had ever seen. At the time we were both working from home, so we thought why not find such a place and move from the chaotic cities? It took 3 years to make that dream come true and we did it despite facing several challenges along the way. Today marks a full year since we bought our 20 acre farm and renovated the house before moving in. We had to do extensive work to renovate the farmhouse and also sort out the heating and cooling. This area is popular with skiing, but that means serious winter, so we had to install a furnace to keep the house warm. Also, we got a heat pump for those hot summer days when we’d need cooling. A neighbor helped us with contacts to a top heating and cooling business in the area and they did an exceptional job. Well, yesterday, an HVAC expert came back to the farm to install a small heater in the greenhouse. It’s important to have a heater in the greenhouse when you have tender plants, especially when you get negative temperatures for many days.
