I didn’t want the contractor to hire the company my friend and I used for our HVAC system.
My associate and I did a lot of research before hiring the contractor who was going to build our house. My associate and I did research on which plumbing company to use, and who would do the electrical work. I didn’t know why he thought my friend and I would just allow him to bring someone in from the HVAC company on his word alone. He was annoyed at us for not allowing his people to do the plumbing and electrical work, so why would he think my friend and I would allow him to use ‘his guys’ for the HVAC. My associate and I called numerous HVAC contractors and had four quotes before considering hiring anyone to do our HVAC system. I thought the contractor was going to quit when I told him my friend and I found the HVAC company my friend and I wanted. They gave us an excellent bid for the HVAC system and gave us numerous options. They were able to look up our condo plans on a website, which gave them all the information they needed on what size HVAC system my friend and I would potentially need, and my friend and I hired them. The contractor told us my friend and I were carrying this whole thing too far. My associate and I hired him to do a job, and my friend and I agreed my friend and I had. My associate and I wanted him to build us the condo of our dreams, but it was just the house… Any other contractor needed would be up to us to hire, like my friend and I hired him. He huffed and puffed and tried to tell us my friend and I were asking for too much, but after an hour, he was calling us. He said the HVAC contractor wanted to meet us at the house.
