When people come down here to live, it’s much different that when they come on vacation.
A lot of folks will often venture to our region when the gas furnace is on back at their house.
We offer splendid temperatures and plenty of sun about 8 months of the year. And that’s generally when most people visit. Yet, I always can spot a first timer when it comes to experiencing a full summer down here. Thankfully, we have great residential HVAC in order to manage the levels of heat and humidity we see here. Still, it’s definitely a full on overwhelming experience for those who are new to this sort of summer. Basically, I see them dance between places where the HVAC cooling is just cranking. The other telltale sign that it’s a newcomer is that the heat pump is on nearly all the time. That’s just sort of the natural, go to, instinct level reaction to this type of heat. Bring on the residential HVAC and all the HVAC cooling that one can handle. I understand how that can be a rational reaction to this type of heat when you haven’t experienced it before. Yet, it’s just not a sustainable approach from a financial or resources perspective. If the air conditioning is on that much in your home, it’s going to cost you a fortune and you’re wasting resources as well. The best bet for getting through the heat season down here is to accept it. And that means don’t go right for the HVAC cooling in April. Wait and that makes the summertime thermostat setting in the low 80’s a whole lot more palatable and way, way less expensive.
