Where I live, the summer time can be straight brutal.
And this is the time of year where we’re all realizing that every one of us have the next four weeks of steamy heat to contend with.
But it also reminds myself and others to be grateful as well. First, I super lucky to live in the age of residential Heating and Air Conditioning and all the superb Heating and Air Conditioning technology that comes with that. Second, I’m still thankful I don’t have to deal with a gas furnace and all that snow up north while in the winter. So if dealing with the summer time heat and trying to keep the control unit at a setting I can afford is my trade off, I’ll still take it. But I have to sort of move indoors for the exercise portion of my life. I’ve never been a gym sort of person. For a single, I can’t seem to find a gym in this town with the sort of commercial Heating and Air Conditioning that can handle the heat and a hundred tepid people. But there’s a unusual discomfort as well. I just feel odd working out with people I don’t suppose is such close proximity. So mainly, I’m outside on my bike or playing tennis or something. The summer time forces myself and others into the basement because unless it’s the crack of dawn, it’s too tepid to ride bikes. So I have a ductless heat pump in the basement and a stationary bike to get my miles in. This summer, I’m going to add some resistance band training down there in that perfect a/c. The summer time is for a/c but it doesn’t last forever!
