They don’t have cooling systems in our home country, so learning how to adjust to using an actual cooling system has been easily interesting since moving to the US; and when I tell people that I never had a central cooling system growing up, people don’t know how to react! But if you have had an actual cooling system for your entire life, you have never found out how to live with the heat, and your body has never had to deal with that inconvenience.
It isn’t as if we were thinking about a central cooling system whenever we were warm! The humidity and the heat were just a fact of life… All of us did not even know that we would have to worry about it.
Our bodies are amazing things, and we are able to adapt to anything that life throws at us. In fact, the actual shock came when I traveled to the US for our college studies. I found out that each of the college dorm rooms had a small cooling system, and the college students that were born in the US were accustomed to using the cooling system all the time; however, during the summer, I was used to the heat! However, instead of heat, the cooling system made me completely irritated. I have never been cold during the summer. I especially had a hard time sleeping when the cooling system was running. I finally understood why the other students had heavy blankets in their beds. All of us never needed blankets when we didn’t have an actual cooling system, but however, over the years, I have grown used to the central cooling systems, and I might absolutely have a hard time returning to our home country.
