They don’t have a/cs in my home country, so learning how to adjust to using an a/c has been honestly interesting since moving to the United States, but when I tell people that I never had a central a/c growing up, people don’t know how to react! However, if you have had an a/c for your entire life, you have never learned how to live with the heat, and your body has never had to deal with that inconvenience. I didn’t love the people I was with and I was thinking about a central a/c whenever the people I was with and I were warm; the humidity and the heat were just a fact of life. We didn’t even know that the people I was with and I would have to worry about it. Our bodies are amazing things, and the people I was with and I are able to adapt to anything that life throws at us. In fact, the actual shock came when I traveled to the United States for my school studies. I found out that each of the school dorm rooms had a small a/c, and the school students that were born in the United States were accustomed to using the a/c all the time… During the summer, I was used to the heat, however instead of heat, the a/c made myself and others completely annoyed. I have never been freezing during the summer. I especially had a difficult time sleeping when the a/c was running. I finally understood why the other students had heavy blankets in their beds. We never needed blankets when the people I was with and I didn’t have an a/c; however, over the years, I have grown used to the central a/cs, and I might honestly also have a difficult time returning to my home country.
