For as long as I could remember, people tried to get me to upgrade my dial thermostat to something more modern.
Back in the day, people said I should go for a programmable thermostat when they came out.
I kindly refused saying that I would use my dial thermostat until the day it stopped working. Amazingly, my dial thermostat has endured the test of time and I bet it will outlast me as well. Even my grandchildren these days and other people tell me that I need to go for a smart thermostat. They’ve been talking about this marvel of technology where you can adjust the temperature control settings from anywhere with your smartphone. First of all, I don’t have any smart technology in my home and that includes a smartphone. I have an old school flip phone and to me it’s snazzy! I can text on it and everything, even though my family members snicker when they see me doing just that. Honestly though, I have gotten so good at texting that I don’t even have to look, even though it takes a long time to type a long message. Anyway, there is no point in me ever getting a modern thermostat. I don’t even care if a smart thermostat lowers my energy costs. One of my grandkids asked me one day why I won’t give up on that old dial thermostat. I let them know it was my wife, their deceased grandmother, who bought me that dial thermostat and it is the most treasured gift I have ever received from anybody in my life.
