The house was big, but that’s about where all the good things ended.
It needed so much work that I wanted to sit there and scream. I had inherited the house from my estranged husband. From the look of things, it might have been cheaper to buy a home, even a small one. The first order of business was to call the air conditioning company to inspect the air conditioner. We had to ensure that at least one thing was working before moving in, although half of our items were already in the house. The a/c worker, after his inspection, said he had a lot he needed to discuss. Panic set in after those words; I could not afford a new air conditioning system with all the work we needed to do to make the house at least habitable. He told me that the air conditioner Installation was a bit more complicated than he anticipated. It had a main central a/c and a different climate control system which was not only newer than the other but was regulated by a digital thermostat, unlike the other one, which was analog. The newer one was in the part of the house that seemed to be a recent addition to the home, and lucky for us, he had valued a/c care despite everything else about the house being a mess. His a/c care plan was good since we only needed minor a/c repair, a new filter, a/c service, and maintenance, and we would be good to go. We called the air conditioning business a week later to get an a/c representative to attend to all those issues. We must schedule regular air conditioning maintenance with the local air conditioning supplier to maintain good indoor air quality.
