Waiting tables at the diner meant I got home very late. I could not wait to get to my studio apartment on such a day. The studio apartment was an in-law suite in someone’s home compound. One afternoon I came home to a hot house. The first thing I did was check the thermostat and then reset it. The best thing about my apartment was that I did not share the same central air conditioner as the main house. The suite had its independent HVAC system, which also meant a particular a/c service. I also decided to check for reminders on the regulator’s app, but this time on my phone, to check if I had missed any updates or reminders. It seemed that I had missed one that was labeled a/c care plan. I was not sure what I meant by that because usually, the landlord took care of the annual air conditioning maintenance; furthermore, I had stayed in that apartment for less than a year. I was in charge of a/c repair, buying a new air conditioning filter, but nothing else involving a/c care. They had given me the contact details of their preferred air conditioning business, but I was free to call an a/c worker from a different air conditioning company if I pleased. So far, I have only had one incident with the unit, and the a/c representative who took care of it took less than forty minutes. My previous apartment had a very unreliable air conditioner installation, and the air quality was substandard. I decided to call the landlord to find out if I was the one to contact the air conditioning supplier or if it was him.
