I called to have service done on my furnace.
They asked if it would be okay if the HVAC technician brought a new technician with him.
He was a mentor for new HVAC technicians and he tried to have them do as many services as possible before they became full-fledged HVAC technicians. I agreed to allow the HVAC technicians to bring his students, and set up the appointment. When the HVAC technician arrived, he had two young men and one young woman with him. He apologized, but said these were students from the local HVAC technicians school where he had been teaching. They needed technical training and this week, they were learning how to do servicing. I nodded, but I had a lot of comments trying to come out. I found it amusing that they needed three HVAC technicians for one furnace, and that didn’t include their instructor. The first person to lay their hands on my furnace, was one of the young men, and the second young man was next. They found nothing wrong. When the young woman started looking at the furnace, she said something about a wire that looked a little ‘burnt’. The instructor was pleased with her observation. He said that one wire could have caused the furnace to break down. When he asked why the guys didn’t notice, all I heard was some mumbling. The girl was all smiles when they came upstairs, but the guys were upset. The HVAC technician thanked me and walked out without giving me a bill. He thanked me for allowing them to use my furnace as a class project.
