When we moved into the lake house that we live in now, we only had a wood stove as the oil furnace. It wasn’t something that genuinely worried myself and others when we first moved in multiple years ago because at that point I just didn’t realize how freezing the hot and cold temperatures could get around here while we were in the winter. I thought that I would be able to live with just a wood stove with no problem at all! And truthfully, a wood burning stove is a unbelievable heating source if you don’t mind having to consistently go outside to get more wood for the fire, that’s been the problem for me, and since I am basically just lazy in the winter, I wanted a weird heating source than just the wood stove. I never knew how fast a wood stove would gobble up and consume firewood while we were in the freezing Winter weeks! Now I know, though. It’s frustrating to be hot and cozy and then have to go out to get more wood in the freezing freezing hot and cold temperatures while we were in the night. I was over it, but every one of us lived with it that way for a couple of years and then last year I gave up. I decided that we needed to get a high efficiency heating method for the lake house because we needed something other than the wood stove as a oil furnace, and of course, we kept the wood stove too. Around here, you consistently need a backup for the heating method whenever it’s the winter. In this temperature, you just never know what’s going to happen.
