I used to help my dad, the independent HVAC technician

He wanted to keep up to date so he could help his heating and cooling customers with all their systems.

My dad and I have always been close and I guess that’s why it’s been easy since he moved in with me. He is now in his 60s and mom is no longer with us. So I had to encourage him to come live with my family and I so he could be close to his grandkids. Dad is retired, so he was at home and we felt he was getting lonely in that big house. My partner and I didn’t have to convince him at all because he agreed to the move the moment we mentioned it. I love my dad and we share so many amazing fond memories. I remember when I was young, I used to help my dad with his job. He was an independent HVAC technician who served such a wide area. When it was the weekend or school break, I’d ride in his truck, hold his tools, and even help with some repairs when I was older. He always paid me and taught me a lot about life during those trips. Dad was loved by the community and they always made sure to call him when there was a heating or cooling issue. The more advanced the HVAC technology became, the more dad did his best to catch up. I remember teaching him about the internet and computers. He wanted to keep up to date so he could help his heating and cooling customers with all their systems. It was dad who introduced many homes to smart thermostats. He would sell them on his website and install them for homeowners in the area. Even though he is now retired as an independent HVAC technician, dad still fixes units now and then.
