My boss sent me out to the country on Monday to handle a furnace installation job. I arrived at the customer’s address shortly before the appointment time of 10 am. I had all of the Machinery necessary to complete the job and the customer was expecting me to arrive at 10 am. I waited in the driveway for a while after I knocked on the door and no one answered. I was hopeful that someone would eventually come outside, but that did not happen. I called my boss to ask what he wanted me to do next. The guy told me to come back to the shop if no one was home. I headed back to the shop and I arrived just as my boss was hanging up the phone from a call. He told me that the woman from the furnace installation job called. She was wondering where we were. She tried to tell my boss that I never went to the address. I told my boss that was absolutely crazy. He started to ask me a bunch of questions and it felt like he didn’t believe the fact that I was there. I didn’t have any reason not to tell the truth. I wasn’t planning to go down without a fight. I told my boss that I was going to go home for the day and he could call me later if he wanted me to come to work the next day. There are at least a dozen or more HVAC service providers in the area and I have a ton of experience. I can literally work anywhere that I want and that means not putting up with someone that wants to question my morals.
