When people ask what happened in my last relationship, I’m divided on what to say.
I’d like to think that it was a mutual concern that destroyed our beloved relationship.
If I’m being totally honest, though, I was not my best self when I was with her. To be honest, I thought that I was doing a lot outside of the house, and that my lady should worry more about the happenings in our home. Unfortunately, this led to a lot of issues with our heating and cooling system, not to mention our feelings for each other. You see, when I came home every day, I was taken back by the temperature setting that met me at the door. The indoor air was never comfortable, and I couldn’t figure out why my partner kept decreasing the temperature control. This made it uncomfortable. I tried several times to talk to her about the importance of indoor comfort, but she couldn’t meet my expectations when it came to setting the controls. There was always some counter fight, about the HVAC system not having been checked in several years – so how could I be unpleasant about the uneven temperatures? She and I found ourselves in a mutually bad situation when it came to the gas furnace and air conditioning. In the end, I called the HVAC company down the road for an emergency repair, hoping that would save our relationship, but it was too late. I just wasn’t willing to take on the HVAC duties, and she wasn’t willing to be punished for them.
