Five years ago, my husband Josh and I bought our first home together.
The house is located on the east side of town in a small residential neighborhood. The neighbors all know each other, and we get along well. We often spend Saturdays in the Summer barbecuing and hanging out with each other. Our neighbor Tim comes over all the time to watch football with Josh. Last Sunday, while they sat in the living room watching the game, Tim asked Josh about our unfinished basement. Josh mentioned to Tim that his plan was to finish it and turn it into his “man cave” and jokingly said that I wasn’t allowed to spend time in it. Tim is a contractor, and offered to help Josh with the basement, he also mentioned that he could get him a great deal on a mini split HVAC unit. Tim has a friend who is an HVAC distributor, so he has discounts on all kinds of HVAC systems. He was able to get us our smart thermostat for little to no money, so I trust that he will be able to get us a good deal on the mini split system. The basement is small, so the mini split air conditioner would be the most ideal option. It would save us money because we wouldn’t have to worry about installing ductwork. I can’t wait to have the basement completed, and although Josh might think it will be his man cave, I will be down there enjoying the man cave as well, as long as the space is comfortable when we use the mini split air conditioner unit.
