For the last two weeks, the school had been reminding us of the job fair they were holding for the juniors and seniors.
Some people at the job fair were going to be there looking for people to hire for summer jobs.
There would also be some people there talking about the career opportunities they offered. I was sure that along with some of the local colleges, we would find some of the military recruiters amongst them. I wasn’t expecting to see the local HVAC company. They were trying to encourage some students to become HVAC technicians. I also didn’t expect that the HVAC techs would push for people to come to their booth. It was the same tactics the men at the circus would use when trying to sell popcorn. Their antics made the HVAC company look unappealing. When I got home from school that afternoon, I was telling my mom about the HVAC techs. When I told her they were calling out to students like a circus barker would to engage with circus goers, she got upset. The next thing I knew, mom was on the telephone talking to dad. I didn’t know any of the new HVAC technicians at dad’s company, so I never put two and two together until I heard mom on the phone with him. She was telling him all about the antics of the two new HVAC techs he had sent to the job fair. From the look on her face when she hung up, I’m not sure whether those HVAC technicians were going to have a job, but I was sure that dad was going to be speaking to them and not so nice.
