My music for the gym

I like to give my life a list of songs.

When I was in middle school, a long time back, I would make mix tapes to play in my Walkman.

That was a portable tape player, something many of you are too young to remember. In school I graduated to making custom mixed discs. These afternoons everything is much easier because of Spotify and apple music in addition to other apps where you can create good playlists. I have about forty playlists currently, but tend to make a new 1 every few weeks or so depending on my mood, in addition to what the gym has been like. When I am focused on weight lifting, I tend to want loud, heavy beats in addition to screaming lyrics, so I listen to a lot of death metal. On the other hand when I use the treadmill and work on my cardio I want softer, more fun beats and listen to a lot of disco. The 1 thing I can’t handle listening to is the hustle and bustle of the gym. I don’t like hearing everyone grunting and talking to each other. My gym offers cross fit classes. I have never taken one. I do love to use their training course. Whenever they are between workout programs, they open up the room, which is like an obstacle course designed to highlight the skills taught in cross fit. I genuinely love the intense workout of the obstacle course, but can never take a cross fit class because I have to listen to my music, not the woman trainer running the class!
