Little changes to the heating and AC unit matter

Little swings make a massive difference.

  • Whether it’s changes to your lifestyle or swings to the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C unit, small details really do matter.

We know because we’ve seen this firsthand with both our health and wellness along with a bit of Heating, Ventilation, and A/C unit update. As for our health, it really was about small changes. Every other time that we wanted to get in shape, we went at it as though all it was going to take was a few weeks to get the right results. Well, it took ages of sitting too much inside the cool air and eating whatever we wanted for us to put that weight on. So it wasn’t like we were going to change that in a month. Yet, that’s just how we approached it. Three years ago, we finally opted to fully commit to a complete lifestyle makeover. And that began with reaching out for help. And what we learned was that it’s all the small choices you make throughout each day that really make a difference. The more great choices we made, like standing at our desk inside the zone controlled Heating, Ventilation, and A/C, the more great choices we wanted to continue to make. At some point, it gets a sort of momentum of its own and real change happens. Another small decision we made concerning our health had immediate results though. We wanted to improve the indoor air quality for our respiratory health and to strengthen our immune response. Well, all we had to do was change the cheap air filters that we had always used and install a HEPA filter instead. That small detail has made such a dramatic effect on the indoor air quality of the lake house. Little details and yearly choices really do make a difference.

The heat pump will be operating at max efficiency

So here we are.

After talking about it repeatedly as a family, the time for execution of our heat pump strategy is upon us.

Well, we did the first two steps this Springtime so getting started isn’t the right sentiment. We are now to the point where the Summer heat and humidity are for real and the hardest part of the plan begins. The Springtime stuff wasn’t too awful when it came to adopting a modern approach to cooling our lake house. We started the modern heat pump plan with a tune up for the heat pump. This way, we’ll be operating at max efficiency. And this Springtime, we decided to leave the cooling off as much as possible so we could adapt to the rising temperatures over time. Simply put, we just had to save money on the heat pump in our lake house. Perhaps we are the outliers but the couple of years of inflation have hammered our family budget. We are not the sort of folks who simply live paycheck to paycheck. Each month, there is a number that goes into savings or investments. But with inflation and no rise in pay, we had to really address some cost cutting. Of course, one of the higher fixed costs for us as a family are costs with cooling. We have a history of just doing whatever we want with the thermostat setting all Summer. Well, not this year and that’s going to be the toughest part of the year. Yet, we can supply disciplined thermostat control. We are convinced of it. Our target is to shave 25 percent off the utility cost that comes with cooling our lake house from mid May through mid October.

a/c worker

She met with the cooling worker to talk about her next residential heat pump

Too often, Stella is convinced that knowing something or the basics of something gives her all the insight.

That’s definitely not how it works.

This is honestly not the sort of behavior Stella displays while working inside the zone controlled Heating, Ventilation, and A/C of the office. She performs more due diligence on just about every decision, recommendation or investment that has to do with the business. So why would she assume meeting with an Heating, Ventilation, and A/C worker once would make her think she knew something about Heating, Ventilation, and A/C equipment. Again, this is a case of Stella being too overconfident for no reason to be that way. She recently had to update the heat pump in her home. So of course, Stella met with the cooling worker to talk about her next residential heat pump. It’s not as though she has unusual or unproper cooling demands. That’s not the case at all. Still, it was nice to speak with a cooling worker who asked particular questions about what Stella wanted in quality cooling. But Stella also had an ulterior motive to all of this. She was trying to glean information so she could find the heat pump online for a vastly discounted rate. And then just have the cooling worker install it. And this is just the approach she took. It took her nearly a month to find the deal she wanted but when she did, Stella snapped it up and had it shipped to her house. The thing is though, Stella just purchased a heat pump that won’t fit the air volume in her house. How’s that for cleverness?

a/c care plan

Our residential heating and AC chores are on the list

We can remember how our dad always had stuff inside the breast pocket of his shirt.

The man always, always, always wore a shirt that had some sort of pocket on it.

And in that little pocket there were many things. He had a tooth pick and a to do list. Sporadically, maybe even a piece of gum or a mint for us. These days, we are now echoing his to do list and our residential Heating, Ventilation, and A/C chores are on the list. Okay, so we don’t wear any sort of shirts that have a breast pocket much. We work from so we only wear golf shirts and shorts inside the central a/c of our home. The tidy golf shirts are nice enough if we have to jump into an online meeting. And nobody can see our shorts. In the Summer, this is required attire because it gets so tepid down here, but for sure, we didn’t move here for the heat. But if we have to deal with the heat of a Summer for many months, that’s a deal we’ll continue to make. Yet, we have to get better at being consistent with our Heating, Ventilation, and A/C chores. And that’s why we have instituted the dad to do list in our lives, but our to do list is on our iphones though. And it’s a talking list because we have alarms that let us know when it’s time for us to do a particular thing. Once a month, we hear it talk to us to remind us that we have to change the air filter. Now we just need to change the alarm sound to our dad’s voice and we’ll be all set.
