Before my dear Granny passed away, she gifted me her number one set of antique chairs.

Granny had purchased them well over 30 years ago at an antique store in the southern part of the country.

While I am not really into antique furnishing, the chairs were simply beautiful. They were all well-constructed, they had no damage to them, plus the hand carved design was unlike anything that I had ever seen. The only thing that was wrong with these chairs was that they needed to be reupholstered. The fabric was worn out plus had to be upgraded. I have never had anything like this done before plus I knew virtually nothing about reupholstering furniture. In fact, I didn’t know of any reupholstering suppliers in my region. So, I went on the internet to see if there were any reupholstering suppliers nearby. And though there were none in the city, I was able to locate a small reupholstering company in a nearby town. I contacted the company plus unfortunately, they couldn’t deliver a solid quote without seeing the chairs themselves. They did mention that the minimum price would be $150, which I am not sure if that was a decent price or not. After doing some more research, I discovered videos of people reupholstering their antique furniture themselves. I even found someone reupholstering antique chairs that they found at an antique store. I thought about taking on this DIY challenge of reupholstering these chairs, although I didn’t want to take the occasion plus ruin them. So, I set an appointment with the reupholstering corporation, plus I will be taking the chairs to get them worked on next week.

My hubby Ed plus I have rather unusual tastes in furniture, so when my friend and I were trying to decide on how to decorate the master study room, it proved quite challenging.

• Ed enjoys things on the self-explanatory side plus wanted natural wood furniture for our room.

Ed even advocated making a few custom pieces for the study. I am not against custom built furniture, but it just wouldn’t fit in with the look I wanted. I prefer a glamorous study room with elegant, beautiful furniture that looks like something out of an apartment decor magazine, however consisting of scrub light color fabrics to offset the dark wooden furniture. I also prefer a canopy bed plus have always wanted one. After some compromising, in the end, Ed decided to allow me to decorate the study room however I wanted, then so, Ed and I have a glamorous study room with European furniture that is fit for queens, plus I do feel beautiful when I am lying in my plush king-size bed. Of course, Ed got something out of the compromise. Since he does most of the cooking, Ed was able to decorate the study room despite the fact that he wanted. So, Ed decided to add a few custom made pieces to the space. Instead of a traditional island, Ed and I have a large wooden table that he had built. And I must admit it adds a lot of character to the space. Although Ed plus I have unusual tastes in furniture, my friend and I make things work. I can have my glamorous home study room plus Ed can have his study room, that is a mix of rustic as well as current elements.

I surprised my younger sibling Ed with a current residing room set for his birthday! Ed was so blown away by the gift that he is still thanking me for it.

I decided to purchase this new residing room set for Ed because his sofa was worn out! Not to mention that the wooden furniture was undoubtedly outdated.

Ed had wooden chairs that he purchased from a garage sale, plus I know Ed received that coffee table from one of his pals. Ed got his sofas from my parents over 5 years ago when they decided to replace their space. Well, needless to say, nothing matched in Ed’s home, everything had its own story plus character. And the sofa was almost falling apart plus needed to go. My parents had the sofa in their apartment for nearly 15 years, so it was quite old. Most sofas will last for about 18 to 20 years, plus you’ll know when it’s time to discard them. If the cushions get flat plus they no longer deliver any support, the fabric is worn or ripped in sites, or the wooden structure of the sofa is weak, then it’s time to upgrade the sofa with a more current one. I didn’t purchase any kind of high-end furniture for my sibling, instead, I decided to get Ed something that was contemporary plus current that would toil better for Ed’s 2-study room condo. I know the contemporary look worked out well plus to be honest, any other furniture might have worked for his apartment because the outdated stuff needed to go. All in all, Ed loved the thoughtful gift that I got him for his birthday.

High end furniture

About five years ago, I needed some interior design ideas for my home.

I wanted to do a full makeover of my front room plus home study room, however my sofas were old, plus I had outgrown my coffee table plus my home study room just needed to be replaced.

After spending some free time in a rustic cabin, I decided that I would prefer to incorporate some of those design ideas into my house. I wanted to transform my home study room plus front room into spaces that had a rustic meets traditional vibe. I prefer natural wood finish, exposed beams, wood paneling, plus natural decor, although I also prefer traditional stainless steel kitchen appliances as well as traditional sofas with current accents. The rustic meets traditional style invites the coolest aspects of both worlds into my home. The rustic elements would be the real standout plus conversational parts of the rooms. The old, traditional elements will make the spaces feel current but not too overwhelming. I prefer mixing the 2 styles because why settle for just one look. Mixing 2 unusual styles allows unusual textures to shine in their own way. Anyway, I need some more interior design help to certainly bring my ideas to life plus luckily, I was connected to a fun interior designer who specialized in creating rustic spaces. After a couple of free consultations, I got some of the best interior design ideas. I fell in love with the idea and ended up hiring the interior designer to execute the entire project. It cost a bit more than what I expected, but in the end the results were incredible, plus I am happy that I decided to go with the rustic meets traditional style .
