This winter weather is way too cold

We weren’t as far south as the Magical Kingdom plus that’s the only place in the south that I had visited during the Winter… Yea, I need to get out more however my getaway budget hasn’t exactly been well funded.

Instead, I’m trying to keep 3 youngsters in college. But I remember that it was sizzling there even in December. And my Mom even put on the air conditioner back at the motel one evening it was that sizzling in the room. It was one of those big, wall device air conditioners plus it was loud. It sure did belt out the cooling comfort though as the room became a fridge by the time I woke up the next afternoon. So this was all I had to go on as I faced my first winter season down here with just a heat pump for heating. This was the first winter season season that I had not had a gas furnace checked plus tested by an Heating plus Air Conditioning professional. But in order to keep paying those tuition bills, I went for a promotion plus got it. That promotion came with a transport to the south where there aren’t gas furnaces. I knew it was going to be warmer here although I wasn’t expecting quite what my friend and I got. For sure, I was able to get outside every afternoon of the winter season that it wasn’t raining. So I appreciated that. And my friend and I did get a couple of chilly snaps that required me moving the thermostat over to heating. The heat pump was way more than I needed when it came to heating a house. And I appreciated that too. Now, I’m counting on that same heat pump for lots of air conditioner as I face my first Summer down here.

I need to mitigate our problems

So I had it all wrong.

How could I be an adult, a homeowner plus a fairly bright man plus not understand anything about indoor air quality? Now that I have a more complete understanding of indoor air pollution, it’s sources plus the ways in which I can mitigate it, I’m shocked I missed all that.

But I sure did. Until the pandemic was raging, I had it all wrong when it came to indoor air quality. For one, I though since I was living in a rural area, there couldn’t be indoor air pollution since the outside air was so clean. But there are many, many pollutants inside the central air conditioner of our homes. There are chemicals being leached from rugs, furniture plus other synthetic surfaces. And don’t get me started on pet fur plus pet dander. Then throw pollen plus people in the mix plus there’s a stew of stuff present inside the central air conditioner of a home. So that’s just the start of me being wrong. I also was under the distinct impression that the Heating plus Air Conditioning unit was honestly cleaning the air. I’d even pat myself on the back when I changed the air filter plus saw all the dust plus stuff on it. But that air filter was the cheapest I could find plus it wasn’t cleaning anything however stuff large enough to harm the Heating plus Air Conditioning equipment. All of this information led me to the fact that I wanted my Heating plus Air Conditioning unit to be cleaning my air. And now it is. I had the Heating plus Air Conditioning professionals install a whole dwelling whole-dwelling air purifier. This thing fits inside the Heating plus Air Conditioning device plus actively cleans the air using high intensity ultra violet light.

This summer is really great

Who knows, this could be my last go around with this sort of Summer.

That’s the one thing about being in your 90’s, you just don’t know which day is your last.

And that’s not a morbid thing as much as it’s just my reality. I’m in pretty wonderful mental shape for 92. And as far as my body goes, it’s about worn down. So I pretty much stay inside the central air conditioning much of the Summer these mornings. It’s not so bad as I’m not a large heat and humidity enthusiast either… Plus, my associate and I have a sunroom off the back of the house that has a ductless heat pump. That little wonder of Heating, Ventilation, and A/C technology does a good job of providing crisp, cooling comfort in the sunroom. It’s really just a large deal for me to have air conditioning at all. I’m seasoned enough to remember a time when there was no such thing as residential Heating, Ventilation, and A/C. And I grew up down here where the heat and humidity have always been rough over the Summer months and into November. I can remember the mornings back when air conditioning was something that my associate and I really went to experience. I grew up in a rural farming community and we’d heard of air conditioning. There was a department store about an hour away by car that really had some form of commercial Heating, Ventilation, and A/C. I still remember the very first time I walked from the broiling, moist heat of Summer right into the cooling comfort of air conditioning. It honestly felt like a bit of magic to me. I’ve seen a lot of convenience some along that I could do without. But having air conditioning sure wasn’t one of them.

The energy bills are out of control

I’m sort of savoring these last mornings of good weather before the heat and humidity hammer comes down once again.

It’s mid May and that means my associate and I are on the cusp of temperatures soaring into the mid 90’s and staying there.

And when I say staying there, I mean until November pretty much. So that means that the heat pump is about to get the greatest workout of the year. Sure, the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C device takes the vast majority of the winter time season off. It gets to sleep like a bear most of the winter time because my associate and I just don’t need it. Actually, my associate and I have gone entire Winters without even flipping the control unit over to heating. These mornings, my associate and I breakout a space heater if my associate and I need it in the day to knock the chill out of the locale. But when it comes to air conditioning, this is the time of the year that you need to be sure to get an air conditioning tune up from the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C corporation. The heat pump needs to be in top form for our sort of heat. I like to add new way each year to contribute to lightening the load on the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C equipment. This year, I have added a smart control unit in order to better manage the air conditioning when the house is empty during the peak heating hours. In addition to the smart control unit, I had a solar shade system installed. It really syncs with the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C technology. The smart control unit will deplot the shades where it detects rising temperatures from direct sun heating. While I’m not exactly eager for four months of overwhelming heat outside, I’m gleeful to see what these additions can do.
