Your HVAC Troubleshooting Guys

Our band is going to head south soon and try out a different city for a month to see how much people like our music and how much cash we can pull in. We plan on going to this larger city and staying for a month there while we play every day for 30 days. If the town is as busy as they say it is then we should be able to make $150 a day each if we play four hours a day. That would be a nice little chunk of money considering we can stay for free in air conditioned luxury in our RV. We could probably keep doing this and just live off of the music money and not have to work for the heating contractor doing furnace repairs and fireplace installs any more. It seems like a cool way to live, just playing music and entertaining people each day, but I wonder if I would get tired of doing it so much. I guess my HVAC tech job would always be there for me if I wanted to come back and work for the local contractor again one day, but I think once I close that chapter in my book I wouldn’t open it again. I love playing music and can’t see myself getting tired of doing it, unless my shoulders get too sore from playing the drum all of the time. Maybe I could do some heating and a/c repair on the road if I needed a break from music, but I guess I’ll have to try to know for sure.

• I think we have hit the lowest temps now, as it is the second day of March, and the effects of the cold water are really therapeutic for me.

I feel a lot more focused after doing the ten minutes in the cold sea, and I also feel more energetic and happier from doing them. I’m not sure how it all works, but something is going on with my blood chemistry when I take these cold water dips each day. Heating myself up with a hot water boiler induced bath is critical as soon as I come home because my body is really cold at that point. There are not many others who do this cold dip during the wintertime, and I understand why because it is not a comfortable feeling at all. My HVAC specialist friend has been doing these dips since he started working for the heating supplier about ten years ago. He looks really young for his age and hasn’t had a cold in ten years since starting the dips. I work with him doing ductwork repair jobs and heating system upgrades, and for a 74 year old man he has an immense amount of energy. I will keep doing them for as long as I feel they are helping my body, and hopefully I can stay young like my HVAC tech friend when I am the same age as him. I’m grateful for my tankless hot water heater for keeping my baths so nice and hot.

I am writing in my office with my gloves on. I cut the fingers out and am able to type with them as my fingers get really cold in the mornings. I guess I could run my unit and make it warmer in my office, but I would rather not and save money by wearing gloves. This cold weather is going to be a memory in about three weeks, as spring rolls in and the cold temps take off once again. I got my power bill for the past two months, which were very cold months with lots of heating from my central HVAC system, and the bill was only about $150. So now I want to see how low we can get the power bill for these two months when we barely ran the heat at all. I think without using the heating devices in our flat we can get the bill down to about $100 for two months. This is a great price because there are two of us here, and that means we are only paying $25 each a month for our power bills. The heating provider told me that heating uses more power than cooling, so this summer we should have some nice low power bills as well. That means the total cost for us to live in this three bedroom two bath flat is about $1300 a month for everything. That is pretty good considering every local business I need, including my HVAC tech job at the HVAC company, is less than a five minute walk from my flat.

I was told that when the two of us wanted to put outdoor lighting on the patio plus our backyard; the two of us needed to hire a licensed electrician.

I looked at the supplier plus told him I thought all electricians were licensed, but he explained that if the electrician works for a contracting dealer; they are licensed, but there were some independent electricians who weren’t licensed, however without the license, they easily aren’t bonded plus there could be a lot of mistakes that would be our responsibility to repair or sue the electrician, then once I asked him to give us the name of a licensed electrician, I should have known he would suggest that worked for his dealer.

I wasn’t being rude, but I wanted several licensed electricians that would give me a quote for the task that needed done. The supplier gave me the name of several licensed electricians who specialized in outdoor lighting. It surprised me when all several quotes were close in price, then my partner plus I chose the first name that was on the list, plus he was also the 1 who worked for our supplier. I liked the man, plus he was a professional. He showed us his license to prove he was a licensed electrician, plus he showed us proof that he was bonded! Neither of the other two even hinted that they were licensed or bonded. When the outdoor lighting was completed, it was nicer than the two of us had imagined. The patio looked enjoy a faerie garden, plus there were lights along the walkway. I didn’t imagine it was going to be this good when I came up with the idea.
