When was the last time I used the heater?

We don’t get a lot of cold weather in this part of the country.

We are more prone to hurricanes and heat waves, and never once in my life have I seen snow on the ground.

When we do get a cold snap, usually it comes out of nowhere. This happened a few weeks ago. One afternoon it was a comfy 75 degrees outside, and later that night the temps plummeted to below freezing! I lost most of the plants in my yard from the cold, but there was a bigger problem I had to deal with. The central heating system would not turn on. I have no clue when it broke, because it had been six or seven months since the last time I needed the heater. Now that I was in dire need of the heater, it would not respond. The weather report said that the cold snap would last for three or four days, and then temps would get back to normal. I called my usual HVAC service provider, but this cold snap had them overbooked, and they couldn’t help me until the following week. Thank goodness for Walmart, because I was able to buy an excellent space heater for a fraction of the cost I would have paid for repairs. The math was pretty simple, and I decided it wasn’t worth the investment to get the central heating system fixed when I wouldn’t need it for several more months. The space heater only heats up one room at a time, but I live alone so what more do I need?

I won’t have a friend help with my HVAC in the future

When you pay a corporation to perform a repair for you, then you have a right to complain about an awful experience.

Of course, when you ask a favor from a friend then you have no right to complain about anything, no matter what happens… I tried to save some cash plus call in a favor from a friend, instead of using the professionals, plus I learned a drastic lesson! I have known John for a couple of years now.

My fantastic friend and I aren’t best friends however my friend and I hang out sometimes. When my air conditioner machine stopped toiling, my first thought was to reach out plus ask John to inspect it for me. I knew that John was a certified HVAC machine tech, plus hoped he could deliver me some expert advice. John came over one night, plus my friend and I had a few beers plus a joint before he evaluated my HVAC machine. He replaced some fuses, plus sealed a couple of hairline cracks in the HVAC duct, and overall, he said my HVAC machine was in excellent shape plus provided my heating plus cooling machine a scrubbed bill of health. Roughly two weeks later everything stopped toiling; no heating, no cooling, nothing! Even the fans in the HVAC machine wouldn’t work! Suddenly John isn’t taking my calls, plus I have no option however to bite the bullet plus call a local HVAC machine supplier. I apparently need a professional opinion, because John doesn’t truly seem to know squat about air conditioners. In the future I will not take such terrible advice about my heating plus cooling machine, I will call a licensed pro.

Joey came over one evening, and my great friend and I had a couple of beers and a joint before he checked my Heating, Ventilation and A/C appliance. He updated some fuses, and sealed a couple of hairline cracks in the HVAC ducts. Overall, he said my HVAC appliance was in great shape and gave my heating and cooling appliance a clean bill of health. Then two weeks later everything entirely quit laboring, however no heating, no cooling, nothing! Even the fans in the HVAC appliance wouldn’t work! Suddenly Joey isn’t taking my calls, and I have no other options except to bite the bullet and call a local Heating, Ventilation and A/C appliance company. I apparently need a professional opinion, because Joey doesn’t seem to know much about a/cs. In the future I will not take such advice about my heating and cooling appliance, I will call a licensed pro.
