Looking for a new loft can be quite aggravating at times.

The loft that my fiance and I bought right before we got married was small and cozy, however once we popped out two youngsters, it was time to find something greater.

The nice thing about our little loft was that it had a large fenced in yard and a central cooling system. My number one part about the loft was really the a/c. I grew up separate from a/c, and it was so miserable in the loft during the Summer months. I used a window component in an home that I rented with my friends before I got married, and it did not work well at all. The home consistently felt hot. When my fiance and I started looking for a house, one of our priorities was to find another loft with central air. My buddy and I had gotten used to the convenience of it. My buddy and I looked for months and months. My buddy and I only found one loft that had central air, and it was pricey. My buddy and I tried to get the owners to go down, however they refused to take our offers. My buddy and I waited another four months before finally finding the loft of our dreams. I had an even greater backyard than our previous house, and it had central air. My buddy and I are so gleeful to transport into our new house. My buddy and I are going through the closing process right now, so soon we will be able to transport into our new home! I cannot wait to be in a greater loft with central a/c and a large yard for our youngsters to play in.

My fiance and I were both born and raised up north.

My buddy and I enjoyed living up there, and my great friend and I particularly never planned to move anywhere else. It was quite strenuous making the decision to move south. My fiance took it the hardest because she had to sell her parents apartment which was filled with rare memories from her childhood. I felt absolutely bad, however both of us knew that it was time to move no matter how much our hearts did not want to. I particularly do not mind living down south. It has been a little strenuous getting used to a new way of life and meeting new people. The humidity is something that I still struggle with, and my fiance does as well. It is much more of a humid climate than my great friend and I are used to. The worst part for me is that the humidity messes with my hair. I cannot curl my hair anymore because the humidity is so high that the curls just fall out and my hair becomes a huge puffball. My fiance has more extreme problems with the humidity. She has observed that it has done some harm to our house. The wallpaper in the entryway is peeling off because of the humidity plus in the lavatorys. The humidity also makes the floors slippery sometimes which is not fun. I have fallen twice since my great friend and I lived in the house, and one of the times I broke two of my fingers. My buddy and I decided that my great friend and I needed to start using dehumidifiers in our house. My buddy and I purchased two of them. One is upstairs, and the other one is downstairs in the entryway. The dehumidifiers have absolutely helped!

As a younger girl, I always described myself as a southern girl with a northern heart.

I hated the heat and humidity where I lived, and I longed to move up North where it was cool.

When I first met my future fiance at school, I asked him if my great friend and I were to marry someday if she would be willing to live up north… She was all for it because she knew of some great job occasions up there, then long story short, my great friend and I ended up getting married, and now, my great friend and I live up north. I can say that I was not prepared for the weather up here. Although I longed for a nice, cool locale to live, I was not prepared for how chilly and snowy the winters would be. I literally had only seen snow a handful of times before I moved up north. My buddy and I never once turned on our heat in our apartment down south, so having to use heat almost year round is silly to me! I feel that my blood is too thin to live up here. I cannot guess that I dreamed of living up north my whole life, and now that I am finally here, I dislike it. It is just too cold. I freeze in the winter, and most of the time, I freeze in the summer. It only gets up to about seventy-five degrees during the day, and it drops down to the fifties at night time. I feel the coldest it ever got when I was living down south was fifty degrees, and that was in the middle of the winter! I do not like to complain to my fiance about the weather since she cares about it up north, and I am the one who asked him to move up here in the first locale.

My fiance and I own a big, outdated farmhouse, then it particularly belonged to my great Grandparents way back in the day.

It is so full of history and character. I am so thankful to be living in a apartment full of my own family’s history, and my fiance has had to put a lot of work into this outdated house. It is absolutely high maintenance. My buddy and I had to replace all of the windows to help insulate the apartment a little better. My buddy and I still lose quite a bit of heat during the winter time months which makes heating the apartment quite expensive… The coldest rooms in the apartment are the study rooms. I do not know why, however they seem to lose the most heat. My son’s room is absolutely the coldest. I feel her room is where most of the wind hits the house. My buddy and I always have an electric space boiler going in her room during the winter time months so that she stays sizzling enough. This winter time has been the coldest winter time that I can remember since living in this big, outdated farmhouse. My buddy and I have had to do even more than familiar to keep the apartment warm. It has been a lot of work! Some nights my great friend and I just all camp out in the kitchen near the wood stove in order to stay sizzling enough. I have had to use a second space boiler in my son’s room because it has been so cold. I cannot wait for this winter time to end. It has already been tough and it is only December. My fiance is going to see if she can do anymore to help insulate the house, however to be honest, even our neighbors with newer houses are having trouble staying sizzling this winter.
