When all of us started saying it wasn’t tolerable that the leaders had furnaces & fireplaces, she agreed it was wrong

When I was in girl scouts, all of us often went on camping trips. Toward the end of the season, it was getting nippy at night. There was a firepit where all of us cooked our food & boiled water, but it did very little to provide us any warmth. The people I was with and I all pulled our sleeping bags as close to the firepit as possible, hoping to get some warmth. The people I was with and I could not figure out why our scout leader wasn’t complaining about the cold, because she didn’t appreciate camping. The people I was with and I looked over & there she was in her sleeping bag, & she appeared to be comfortable. The people I was with and I could not understand why she was comfortable, but all of us weren’t. The people I was with and I all had the same girl scout regulation sleeping bags. The next afternoon, I asked her how she could be so moderate all night? She showed myself and others a small portable gas furnace she purchased, she had 1 portable gas furnace near her feet & another portable gas furnace in the middle of the sleeping bag. She told myself and others she didn’t go anywhere without them, but normally, she would sleep in the tent with the other leaders. There was a fireplace & a furnace in the cottage house, but the tents just had a small gas furnace. The people I was with and I all loved camping, but periodically all of us wished all of us could be in the heat with the leaders. When all of us started saying it wasn’t tolerable that the leaders had furnaces & fireplaces, she agreed it was wrong. I know that’s why she purchased the portable gas furnaces & started sleeping outside with the rest of us. I didn’t care if she slept inside, however she could have taken us with her.

The people I was with and I had ridden our motorcycles to the shore, & I thought it would be cool to ride without a shirt & in my shorts.

The only area of myself and others that wasn’t burnt was where my shorts & sneakers covered the skin.

When all of us got to the hotel, our room wasn’t ready, but all of us found some nice ladies who let us sack out on their floor until our room was ready. With the help of aloe, some of the pain was out of the sunburn, but not all of it. The only thing that soothed the sunburn was the air conditioning. I laid on the 1 bed where the air vent was pointing & let it do its task. I could not suppose how painful a sunburn could be. The 1 girl wanted myself and others to get into a cool shower, however I was afraid it would strip off my already blistering skin. As I shivered on the bed, I refused to let them turn off the air conditioning. I had a blanket covering my feet, & a small sheet over me, however I was still shivering, & refusing to transport away from the direct flow of the AC. I knew I was being stubborn, however I thought shivering was better than having the pain of the sunburn. The next afternoon, our room was ready, however I wasn’t moving. The blistered skin on my chest was stuck to the bed, & I could not move. They had to get a medical professional to the room & provide myself and others something for the pain & for sunshine poisoning, then my friends & I gave the ladies our room since I was stuck to the bed.

My husband & I constantly went to the same hotel near the beach, for our anniversary. Although the hotel was 1 of the oldest on the beach, it was constantly wash & had excellent service… The Heating & A/C system never failed us, & all of us loved being so close to the beach that all all of us had to do was step out of the patio doors & all of us were there. This past summer, all of us got to the hotel, & all of us walked back out; It was hotter than the beach in the middle of summer. The Heating & A/C system had gone out & the air conditioning was non-existent. The lobby was so warm that the concierge desk was closed & all the people was walking around in shorts & a t-shirt instead of their uniforms. The people I was with and I asked when the AC was going to be turned on, but they didn’t know. The desk clerk said they weren’t sure if the Heating & A/C contractor was even called. I asked for our deposit back & all of us headed to another hotel. It wasn’t as near to the beach, but it was within walking distance… When all of us walked into the lobby, the air conditioning greeted us, but not the desk clerk. There was a sign on the desk saying no vacancy. The people I was with and I headed to another hotel, but the same thing happened. The closest all of us could get to the beach was half an minute away. The people I was with and I shrugged & stayed at the hotel. It had excellent Heating & A/C & even if all of us didn’t get to the beach; all of us discovered at least many wineries in the area. They all gave free tours & wine tasting.

My dad was a miser plus during the winter, he only kept enough heat in the apartment to keep the pipes from chilly. He would tell us to get up plus move, plus the people I was with and I would be warmer. Every one of us all walked around in sweaters or jackets, plus it was normal for us. I remember waking up some afternoons plus it would be so cold, our feet ached from stepping on the floors. Every one of us had to rush to get dressed plus have shoes plus socks on before the people I was with and I stepped out of bed. When the people I was with and I took our showers, there was 1 small space heating system to warm the bathroom up, however you only had 5 hours per person to shower. I remember thinking I would never miser the heat to save a couple of bucks. I wanted my family to regularly be comfortable, however at the price of heating this week, I had to limit it. I told the kids the thermostat would remain at sixty-eight. They had plenty of sweaters to keep them warm. If I saw anyone changing the thermostat any higher than sixty-eight, I would unconnect the thermostat in their kitchen. They thought I was kidding plus my oldest kid thought he would test me. He set his thermostat to seventy-two, plus I provided him a warning. He told myself and others he didn’t believe I would take away his only source of heat, plus I told him to try me. The next night, he once again raised the thermostat to seventy-two. When he got cabin from college, the thermostat was gone. He needs to leave his kitchen door open, or he has no heat in his room.
