After taking the cooling workmen recruits through the apprentice program, I was responsible for handling them through the final exams before graduating. A lot was required from these recruits. It was the air conditioning business policy to train every one of their recruits so that they could all know about the excellent air conditioning service the company was known for. I had taken three cohorts through the program. The current one was the fourth. This cohort was different from the rest because they used the new curriculum that the other experienced air conditioning experts and I had created. The curriculum was set around the different cooling products in the market and their benefits plus differences. For the qualifying exam, I thought it wise to zero in on the new HVAC unit in the market, the central air conditioning system. Some questions would focus on the time it takes for the cooling techs to install the air conditioning. I would also ask about the significant benefit of the unit. This benefit is that it can be used throughout the year like a heat pump. One of the questions that would carry several points would be about air conditioning tune-up and the frequency or urgency of carrying out air conditioning repairs. Part of the practicals would include replacing air filters important to the unit and an indoor air cleaning system which is part of the cooling devices and quality air conditioners. It took a week to set the exam, which the recruits will be sitting for next week. I am confident that they will outshine their predecessors.
Mum finally has a new cooling product as the first fruit of the business
When growing up, mum always told us the importance of giving our first fruits whenever we start something.
- She said that offering your first fruits to the needy is like giving back to your business or whoever ventures the first fruits are from.
The first fruits, she explained, were the first profits and the first result in anything you do. When I began my air conditioning business five months ago, we had an unexpected gain that I thought to give back to my community. The company would give back to help with the indoor comfort needs of the needy. Some residents had HVAC units that needed air conditioning tune-up or any other air conditioning service, for that matter. Like my dear mother, other people had inefficient units and needed an upgrade ASAP. The business identified the neediest people and set out to provide suitable cooling products. I handled mum’s case. She was now retired, and her house was in dire need of a quality air conditioner. My cooling workman and I assessed the house and settled on getting a central air conditioning unit to serve her and the surrounding tenement houses she rented out. As much as the unit also cleans the air, we saw it fit to add an indoor air cleaning system after the pandemic we had just survived. The different air conditioning installs took a couple of months, and the air conditioning expert was extremely busy. Out of all the needy residents we chose, we were able to train at least three-quarters of them on how to change air filters without the help of a cooling tech. I would oversee mum’s air conditioning repair myself. Mum and her neighbors felt very special.
Fireworks at the air conditioning business celebrations
The day started on a high note.
We would be celebrating the air conditioning business’s five years of operation.
In business, this is the benchmark for all startups. We have been doing well, but things would be even better because of the tender we have just received. The tender included handling the air conditioning install in a chain of hotels. Operations would carry on as usual, and then, in the evening, we would get down to party in celebration. We started by carrying out air conditioning service at one of the offices in the next building. They had a quality air conditioner for ten years, and it was very well maintained that the air conditioning tune-up took us only an hour. We also replaced the air filters to improve the air quality within the office. The central air conditioner at our offices would prove itself when the office was full of guests later that evening. The hall was beautifully decorated, and the number five was plastered. There was even a cake that the air conditioning experts had brought in celebration. In anticipation of the festival and the multiple guests invited, we ran air conditioning repairs on the HVAC unit at the office. Also, we added an indoor air cleaning system which we thought would be necessary after the effects of the pandemic. The celebrations started on a good note, where we enjoyed presentations from novice cooling techs and experienced cooling workmen. They did a short play to highlight the cooling products in our inventory. Later that evening, we had fireworks, and my face lit up as each firework lit up the sky. It was my first time seeing fireworks, and it was incredible.

When I started my career, I did not know much about what I wanted to do, but the one sure thing was that I wanted to travel the world.
I hoped that my job would take me around the world.
I attended the apprentice program for cooling techs because I love HVAC units. I later stayed out of work for a year due to the pandemic. When I got a call back from one of the leading air conditioning businesses in the area, I was elated. I started as a junior cooling workman, and as I learned the trade, I got better at it. Building and maintaining relationships is easy, so I was promoted to relationship manager soon after. This position has opened unimaginable doors for me, my career, and my love for travel. I have a team of air conditioning experts who travel with me. My job entails establishing a good rapport with the residents, the county government, and other businesses around the area. We start by studying the residents’ cooling products requirements and needs, then set the brach and commence operations. Our products include central air conditioning units and indoor air cleaning systems. The latter has gained popularity because of the pandemic. After the residents acknowledge our new business, we expand our operations to include air conditioning installs, which bear air conditioning service needs. I have been to three countries to develop and preach the quality air conditioner message. I could not do it alone, as my team has been integral to my success. They help the customer become independent and handle some processes, including replacing air filters. We also share essential tips on air conditioning tune-ups and emphasize the need for regular air conditioning repair. I have my dream job!
