HVAC equipment is a considerable investment; the only way to save on the investment is to have a proper a/c care plan. My parents’ unit has lasted over its estimated lifespan. My parents had the money for a new air conditioning system since they had anticipated the old one failing. I learned a couple of lessons regarding taking proper a/c care. The air conditioner we used when growing up was efficient throughout the better part of my childhood. I initially thought that a/c service was not essential and one could do without and only deal with fixing the issue whenever a problem occurred. Some of the cases were avoidable. A correctly done installation ensures that the unit will function optimally. The most important advice, however, was to always keep an eye and ear out for any noticeable issue on the machine. To prolong the lifespan of their HVAC unit, my parents also had a strict schedule for replacing air conditioning filters every three months.

As I drove past the air conditioning company on my way from my second-day job, my car broke down for the third time that week. I was still holding on to it because it was not a classic old model but simply because I couldn’t afford another car. I told him that my car had broken down, and the distress on my face must have made him pity me because he offered me a ride since we were heading in the same direction. On the way, he mentioned the address where he was going to conduct an a/c repair. I realized that he was born in my home. I told him about all the problems I was facing with the air conditioner and how the air quality had deteriorated. He asked me how often I have an a/c representative conduct a/c care or a full a/c service. When I told him I rarely did, he told me that the lack of an a/c care plan could be why they kept breaking down. I hesitated to lead him to the air conditioner installation because my house was messy. He did not seem to notice or ignored it and went ahead to fix the system. I was so glad that he did not tell me that I had to order some parts from the air conditioning supplier because I was on my last penny. Waiting tables at the diner meant I got home very late. I could not wait to get to my studio apartment on such a day. The studio apartment was an in-law suite in someone’s home compound. So far, I have only had one incident with the unit, and the a/c representative who took care of it took less than forty minutes. I think the actual image was that of a deranged man, especially when I saw the expression of the a/c worker.

He had knocked on my door, but since I was taking down a wall, I did not hear a thing, so he just entered the house. I had called the air conditioning company to send a technician who could tell me the cost and size of the new air conditioning equipment. In the meantime, I needed an a/c repair for the old air conditioner for it to get me through the month. The air conditioner installation was going to be the best in the air conditioning business. When I removed my dust goggles, I realized that the technician was a lady who was almost as tall as I am, which is not so common since I’m six feet. Even with all the dust, I could still smell her vanilla and spring scent. Her well-manicured fingernails were firmly holding a toolbox, and I forgot how to breathe for a second. If every a/c representative came close to looking like her, the air conditioning business would be booming. Calls for a/c care and a/c service would be countless in a day. The lady did the air conditioning maintenance, fixed the issues, and set the digital thermostat because it gave the wrong readings. The way she went about her work was fascinating. She gave me the quotation I would present to the air conditioning supplier. She told me not to bother replacing the air conditioning filter since the air quality was not bad because I would be getting rid of that unit in less than a month.
