Your HVAC Troubleshooting Guys

I was performing some routine maintenance on the HVAC device in 1 of the apartment rentals that I manage.

I knew I could save a couple of bucks by performing the routine maintenance on our own… While I was cleaning the A/C & condenser, I noticed a small amount of mold inside of the machine.

I wasn’t anxious with the amount of mold until I started taking the rest of the machine apart. I knew that I had to contact a professional. I called a contractor that I know & trust, he came to the rental property to look at the A/C unit. He confirmed what I already suspected. The A/C device was filled with mold. The mold extended through the apartment & there was mold inside of the wall behind the area where the heat pump & A/C device were located. The problem with the mold was way worse than I expected & the disfigures were quite severe. Insurance would only pay for disfigures to the wall & I had to fork out multiple grand for a modern heat pump & ac. There was entirely no way to safely salvage the system after it had been riddled with mold for so long. I was planning to rent that device that next week, although I had to change our plans when I found out about the complications with the heating & A/C unit. Those troubles had to be addressed & fixed before I could let anyone transfer to the property. That month was another loss of $1650 bucks that I could not upgrade.

During the Springtime months I appreciate to go around the house plus clean all of the sites that usually get missed, but this would include the air vents plus the HVAC duct! I disattach all of the HVAC duct covers plus I place them in a bath of moderate soapy water.

I suppose it cuts through all of the grease plus grime plus the Soapy Suds make it easier to wipe down each one of the vents after they have soaked for 30 minutes. I also use a long handled dusting broom to disattach all of the dust plus dirt inside of the HVAC duct. The telescoping handle is nearly 9 ft long plus I can genuinely get inside of the duct work. It makes me know genuinely organized when I get all of the HVAC duct plus the air vents cleaned. It’s not something I do frequently, even though I appreciate the way the house stinks when there is Lysol in the scent of every single one of the ducts. I was cleaning the duct work this Springtime plus I was genuinely surprised to find red dirt, dust, plus lent that did not match anything in the house. The red dirt plus dust was genuinely unusual plus bizarre. I kept it out of the garbage can until my family could get condo from school plus work. I asked all the people if they knew what the red dots could be from plus no one had an answer. I absolutely still do not assume how that red substance ended up in the HVAC duct. It has bothered me since I cleaned plus that was 5 months ago.

My brother needed help moving from one apartment to the next, and he offered to buy me lunch if I just carry some boxes with him. I didn’t mind helping him, but a free lunch definitely got my attention. I carried a lot of the fragile boxes and made sure to carefully arrange them in a way so as to not get damaged, while my brother carried the heavier furniture. When I arrived at his new place, I could tell that it was nicer than his previous apartment, and slightly bigger and in a better area. However, I immediately noticed that his window air conditioner was leaking. It was leaking so much there was water running down the walls. When I pointed this out to my brother he had almost no reaction and dismissed it immediately. I told him he should tell the landlord about it, but he didn’t listen. I finished helping him move and then I was able to go home on my own. Imagine my surprise a month later, when my brother called and told me about his heating and air conditioning unit stopped working randomly. It wasn’t random in my opinion, it had signs of issues, but he just didn’t want to face them. Now he was going to have to go and trouble the landlord to get it fixed, when this all should have been done ahead of time to avoid this issue. He should have listened to me and the clear signs his cooling device was giving.

I fell in love with heated flooring after staying at a hotel that had it.

Maybe that is a weird thing to love, but it is true, I love radiant heated flooring! I actually had a bit of an obsession with it back then, and even though I lived in the area, I stayed at the hotel multiple times just to feel the warm flooring again.

I soon realized that the local heating and A/C businesses actually offer heated flooring installation! I figured that it would be some expensive luxury only available to the rich, and out of my reach, but to my surprise, it was a lot cheaper than I had expected! I immediately called and made an appointment for the installation of the heated floors. It took a couple of weeks for the two cooling specialists to arrive, because the local cooling corporation was pretty busy. But when they went to work, I was surprised at how fast and easily they installed the HVAC flooring. Afterwards, they showed me how to use it, and I got to test it out myself. It felt just like the heated flooring at the hotel, except now it was in my very own home! I knew I was going to absolutely love this, and it was going to really help me in the winter time, as a backup to my central heater. I am so happy with my radiant heated floors, I can’t wait to invite some guests over to try it out for themselves. A lot of people don’t even know about heated flooring, so I bet everyone is going to be impressed!
