I’ve been really stressed over my furnace.

The furnace has served me well for the past 5 years that I’ve been living here, but it’s always been a concern of mine.

When I bought the house, the furnace was 10 years old, which was still old in terms of furnace lifespans. Now, the furnace is 15 years old and it desperately needs to be replaced. I had the entire HVAC system serviced biannually during my time here and there has never been any drastic disasters that have forced me into buying a new furnace. However, this past year has really tested my luck. I switched over from my air conditioner to my furnace back in October, which means that I’ve been running the furnace for the past 3 months. This isn’t a long time, but I’ve already had to call the HVAC company twice and have two repairs. These phone calls and repairs aren’t cheap, not to mention all the money I’ve been paying just to run the furnace. With all of this being said, I had to make the bittersweet decision to buy a new furnace. I’m happy about this because it means that I’ll have a furnace that’s able to heat my home without any issues or repairs. My utility expenses will also be drastically lower! The downside about buying a new furnace is the expense, which is why I’ve put it off for so long. Furnaces are not cheap, but all the HVAC professionals tell me that it will pay itself off in the long run. I hope they’re right!

New air conditioning

Before we purchased this house, we were made aware of the old HVAC system.

We loved everything about the house and it’s location so much that we were willing to overlook the HVAC system and its age when signing the contract. My husband and I have always been really good about taking care of our HVAC systems in the past, so we were committed to getting it cleaned up and taken care of as soon as we moved in. Neither of us expected to replace it right away, but the thought wasn’t far from our minds. As soon as we got the keys to our new house, we called the local HVAC company and hired a professional to come service the HVAC system. We had no idea when it had been serviced last or if it had been serviced at all. The HVAC professional told us what we already knew about how old the HVAC system was and that it wasn’t going to run as efficiently as a new one. Afterwards, my husband and I discussed the positives and negatives of replacing the HVAC system instead of putting time and effort into it. We could clean the ductwork and the HVAC equipment, but that would cost time and money and we’d constantly have to care for it. Or, we could purchase a new HVAC system for thousands of dollars, but we would never need to worry about failures and efficiency. After weighing our options, we decided to purchase a new HVAC system because it would save us money over time rather than caring for the old HVAC system.

Since I moved to a new house my exhausting house plants are not doing particularly well! I do not understand it. I have had some of them for over 20 years. I bought this house because of the substantial bay windows that should have been good for my plants, however so why are they all wilting plus looking terrible? I asked myself. Then I check the humidity in my house plus it all came together. It turned out that the air conditioning was taking all of the humidity out of the house plus my exhausting plants we’re dying because of it, but it is too boiling to simply turn off the air conditioning. Then me plus the plants would both bake to death. Instead I called up an Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C contractor to come plus see if they could do anything. The serviceman advocated installing a humidifier that hooks up to my Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C system. He would also install a humidistat too so that I could control how humid my house is. I know this is exactly what my plants need. It will cost quite a bit of money however it’s worth it to me if I can keep the plants healthy. That’s why I tied up the Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C serviceman to come back plus do the installation on Tuesday. Until then, I have pots of water around the plants to help increase the humidity plus I’m also spraying them with a spray bottle at least once a afternoon. I know they should survive until Tuesday without typical humidity. I wonder if I should close the vent in the home office, for a few days, as well.

There has been a genuinely awful smell in my house lately.

• It literally smells like a public toilet.

Not just any public toilet either. A public toilet at a ball game or giant even like that. The stink is terrible. I have looked all over the house in addition to can’t find the source of the smell. I have cleaned under the couch, under the refrigerator, in addition to washed all of the linens. Nothing has helped. The smell remains. A superb acquaintance of mine said that I might want to look into getting my Heating as well as Air Conditioning system serviced. She said that she had a similar experience a year ago in addition to that it turned out to be her air duct system. She had Heating as well as Air Conditioning companys come in addition to scrub out the air duct in addition to service the whole Heating as well as Air Conditioning system. She said they even installed a special carbon filter. The smell went away in addition to never came back. Now she has her Heating as well as Air Conditioning system serviced at least once a year. A smelly Heating as well as Air Conditioning system would explain the smell in my house I suppose. It would make sense. After all, the smell is awful in every single room of the house. Now that I know of it, the smell is worse when the heating system is on too. I know I am going to have to hire an Heating as well as Air Conditioning supplier to come out in addition to take a look. I hope they don’t charge too much though. However, at this point, I am willing to spend money just about anything to get rid of that smell. It is only getting worse in addition to I can’t live like this.
