Five years ago, my husband Josh and I bought our first home together.

The house is located on the east side of town in a small residential neighborhood. The neighbors all know each other, and we get along well. We often spend Saturdays in the Summer barbecuing and hanging out with each other. Our neighbor Tim comes over all the time to watch football with Josh. Last Sunday, while they sat in the living room watching the game, Tim asked Josh about our unfinished basement. Josh mentioned to Tim that his plan was to finish it and turn it into his “man cave” and jokingly said that I wasn’t allowed to spend time in it. Tim is a contractor, and offered to help Josh with the basement, he also mentioned that he could get him a great deal on a mini split HVAC unit. Tim has a friend who is an HVAC distributor, so he has discounts on all kinds of HVAC systems. He was able to get us our smart thermostat for little to no money, so I trust that he will be able to get us a good deal on the mini split system. The basement is small, so the mini split air conditioner would be the most ideal option. It would save us money because we wouldn’t have to worry about installing ductwork. I can’t wait to have the basement completed, and although Josh might think it will be his man cave, I will be down there enjoying the man cave as well, as long as the space is comfortable when we use the mini split air conditioner unit.

Hybrid heating

For the past twenty years I’ve been living in the same house surrounded by all of the same people. If you would have told me when I was in my early twenties that I would still be where I am instead of moving to some beautiful island, I would have told you that you were bonkers. There is not one single thing that keeps me here. But, I believe that the main reason that I am still here in this small neighborhood is because of the people. Everyone works hard, and are so friendly to one another. A good example is my acquaintance James who is the owner of this small HVAC corporation in town. In my twenty years of living in this house, I have only needed to buy 3 new heating and cooling systems from them. Three or four times per year, I always have them out here for routine tune ups and they always keep my heating and cooling situation in a good place. Not only have they delivered high quality results while in these past twenty years, they have also always been so kind and polite to me. I consider James a good friend and he’s always welcome in my house, even if there isn’t an HVAC system to service. I think there are things that I lack about not living on some extravagant island, however for me, being able to live in this amazing community is more than worth it.

Stacy has called the same apartment home for close to 30 years.

This is the same place all her closest friends live.

If you would’ve told her when she was in her late teens that she would still be where she is instead of living in the big city, Stacy would’ve laughed out loud at such thoughts. While there is not a single thing, Stacy thinks that the main reason that she’s still living in this small neighborhood is because of her friends. It’s a wonderful community where everyone works hard and cares for one another. Take her good friend Janet, for instance, who is the owner of this small Heating, Ventilation & A/C supplier in the area. In almost 30 years living in this apartment, Stacy has only needed two new HVAC systems per year to keep her heating and cooling situation in a fantastic condition. Not only have they delivered high quality work during years, but they have also consistently been seriously kind and polite to both Stacy and her family. She considers these Ac technicians as close friends and they are consistently welcome in her apartment, even if there isn’t an Heating, Ventilation & A/C plan to service. Stacy knows there are things that she’s missing not living in some big city, but for her being able to live in this amazing community is more than worth it.

For more than two decades, Mark has been living in the same lake house close to the same people.

If you would have told him when he was in his early twenties that he’d still be where he is instead of living on some charming island, Mark would’ve told you that you were crazy.

While there is no single thing, Mark can say the main reason that he’s still living in this small town is because of his amazing neighbors. All of them work hard, and are caring people. One of his friends is Jamie who is the owner of an AC business in town. In the more than two decades of living in this lake house, Mark has only needed to buy 2 new heating and cooling systems from them. He calls the AC business three times per year to have them out here for basic check ups and to keep his heating and cooling system working. Not only have they delivered high quality tasks during these past twenty plus years, the AC workers have been kind and polite to Mark and his family. He considers these guys as true friends and they are constantly welcome in his lake house, even if there isn’t an HVAC system related matter. Mark is aware there are things that he’s missing not living on some lavish island, however, being able to live in this amazing community is more than worth it.
