HVAC rewards are great

One of the things that always draws me into new businesses is when they offer a rewards system.

Some kind of customer loyalty program, where you get points for every visit or purchase, and they can add up pretty fast. Then with those points, you either get really good deals, or you can choose something to purchase with those points. I usually see those kinds of programs in shopping malls or stores like that, so I was really in for a surprise when the HVAC store close to me started having a rewards program! I didn’t use HVAC equipment that often, but this was a great motivator for me to start. I was given the news by an email, and so I decided the next day that I will go and check it out. The HVAC business is located conveniently close to my house, which was nice. I took my time looking around at all of their products, and I decided to buy some of their HEPA air filters. I was also tempted to get an air purifier, since those give a lot of points, but I don’t really need one. With buying the air filters, I was already off to a good start. One of the things that I noticed you can save up for, is a smart thermostat. I would love to get a smart thermostat! They are so modern and so technologically advanced. I knew that the thermostat was my new goal. The A/C store is going to be seeing a lot of me, thanks to their rewards program.

Washable filters are a money saver

When it came to buying things for my HVAC system, such as HVAC filters, I naturally leaned towards the cheaper options.

And why wouldn’t I, they all looked the same to me.

Even the HEPA air filters, which are supposed to be of great quality, didn’t look much different to the generic stuff I was used to buying. However, not only were the A/C filters I was buying bad for my furnace system, but they were costing me more money in the end. This entire time I thought I was saving money, when I really wasn’t. So, I ended up switching furnace filters, and trying HEPA air filters. I chose those air filters not only because of their good quality, but because they can be washable. I’m not sure how well they work after being washed, but personally I haven’t noticed much of a difference in air quality or my A/C unit performance, so I think it is okay. These are washable filters that can last a really long time. I was originally buying a bulk pack of filters and replacing them every 2 months. All I have to do is wash the HEPA filters every now and then, when they get dirty. I wish I had kept count of how much money I saved when I first started, but that was years ago, honestly I think it could be in the hundreds by now. I would suggest to anyone, try rewashable filters, they can save you a lot of money. I know some people prefer the regular kind, but personally, washable filters are much better.

Duct cleaning came out better than I thought

My husband suffers from allergies pretty easily.

  • Unfortunately, his list of things he is allergic to is really long, and it certainly seems to get longer.

Spring is a miserable season for him, because of all of the pollen in the air. He is also really sensitive to dust, so even when it is not spring, he has to deal with dust. I try to clean the home as often as possible, to prevent dust build up, but it doesn’t always work. I have suggested multiple times for him to get medication, but he doesn’t want to deal with side effects. So then it’s just dealing with the sneezing and runny nose all of the time. Then he came up with this idea that perhaps ductwork cleaning would help. I’m not sure where he got this information, but I had never heard of ductwork cleaning helping people with allergies helping people, so I had my doubts. Well he managed to convince me anyway, so we went ahead and scheduled a ductwork appointment with a nearby heating and A/C dealer. All this time, I kept thinking how this was probably a waste of time. The HVAC specialist arrived with a crew, and the ductwork cleaning took awhile. I was amazed to see all of the gunk they removed from our ducts, I had no idea how dirty the ductwork could get, and the A/C team did a fantastic job of cleaning everything out. I was truly impressed by their hard work. But the best part came when my husband’s allergies went away for a long period of time. I guess ductwork cleanings do work.

The HVAC technician did a bad job

I had something really annoying happen to me the other day.

When I pay someone to do a job I probably could do myself, I expect a good job.

So I was really disappointed when I paid an independent HVAC worker to clean up my very dirty air conditioner. My A/C unit tends to get very dirty during spring and summer and so I have to clean it out very often. I was feeling a bit lazy one day, and decided to hire an independent HVAC contractor. Sometimes A/C contractors have reviews for them, but I didn’t really bother to look at reviews, since these are independent cooling dealers and I kind of figured that it would be okay, otherwise they wouldn’t be in business. No, I was wrong. The heating and A/C professional that came over, wasn’t professional at all. He was pretty rude and ignored me for the most part. Even though I didn’t appreciate his attitude, I didn’t really care that much as long as he took care of the HVAC component. When it came to cleaning the heating and air conditioning unit, he didn’t even try to cover up that he barely made an effort. I could still see built up dirt and grime in many areas. This really annoyed me, because I paid the guy a lot of money to clean the system, and he didn’t even do a good job! Next time, I will be a lot more careful when it comes to choosing who will take care of my heating and air conditioning machines.
