Back in the day, I never imagined that I would ever require a HEPA filter for my HVAC system. I regularly just got average air filters, not the cheapest kind but nothing fancy either. That was until one day when a good friend of mine bought me a UV air purifier. This UV air purifier was truly top of the line and it even measured the air quality in your home so that you know when to change the HEPA filter. Now using the HEPA filter I thought would be enough, but the UV light works to eliminate harmful contagions and contaminants. I’m talking about getting rid of viruses, bacteria, and even mold spores! That’s what my UV air purifier does for me and I’ve come to learn how much better HEPA filters work compared to all other types of air filters! After using this UV air purifier for so long and enjoying improved air quality, I decided that I really should invest in HEPA filters to use with my HVAC system. When I was talking about doing this though, my buddy warned me that I had to make sure my HVAC system was capable of using HEPA filters. This is because HEPA filters are so dense and not designed for all styles of HVAC systems, especially the older models. So I checked with the HVAC company and sure enough, I can get HEPA filters for my system. I ordered a few HEPA filters to start and now I always get complimented on my excellent air quality in my home these days.

I consider myself lucky that I know how to do small repairs myself around my house.

Otherwise, I would be spending a fortune to call a professional every single time something breaks! This was the case when my smart thermostat that runs my central heating and air conditioning system broke the other day.

It was really an easy repair. The thing that was wrong with it was simple. The wiring somehow got disconnected from the wall and caused my central heating and air conditioning system to fully stop working. At first I almost called the local heating and air conditioning company to send out a certified heat and a/c specialist. However, once I did some trouble shooting I found that it was the smart thermostat that ended up being the issue. And somehow it got loose from its mount and a wire disconnected. Well, I went and got my rolls from the basement, took the smart thermostat out of the wall and then reinstalled it as if it was a brand new smart thermostat being hooked up for the very first time. This reconnected the disconnected wire and then my central heating and air conditioning system unit was fully working again along with the smart thermostat itself. I was really glad I did some troubleshooting so I could fix this myself. It would have cost at least a few hundred bucks to have the heating and air conditioning company send a certified heat and a/c specialist out to do the same thing that I did for nothing!

I really love working at the heating and air conditioning company I work at.

Everyone is like one big family and has been that way all the years I have worked here.

Recently, one of the older heating and air conditioning specialists were retiring and the heating and cooling company threw a mini retirement party for them. And I have to sayk, the party was fun! It was great getting to hang out with all of my fellow heating and air conditioning workers at work while not actually working. The heat and a/c specialist that was retiring was very happy about doing so and was having a great time. It is going to be a long time yet till I retire. At least another 20 years. But when that day comes, I hope whoever is in charge of this wonderful heating and air conditioning company at that time will throw me a party like this one. I completely understand why my fellow older HVAC worker was so happy to retire. After all those decades in the heating and cooling business, it must get tiring doing the same thing day after day. I have only been working a small 15 years here at this heat and a/c company. My fellow older heat and a/c worker had been here almost 40! That is for sure time to retire. I wish them the very best and hope that they have a great rest of their lives. Though, he said that he is probably going to become an independent heating and air conditioning contractor and do small jobs once he rests for a year or so.

I had been thinking about getting a heat pump for my home.

The idea was to replace central heating and be able to have something to heat the house in the cold winters that will save me on energy use in order to save some money. Now the toss up between all of this is that a heat pump is very expensive, not to mention the cost of the installation for the heat pump. But after thinking about it and weighing the cost of what I spend on electric bills every single winter is it really cold verses the cost of the heat pump as well as the installation of the heat pump, in the long term, the heat pump will end up paying for itself. That is how much energy use I will save by having this heat pump instead of having to use the central heating system. In the summer for air conditioning to save money has yet to be figured out other than buying a portable air conditioning system. But with as hot as it gets around here, the portable air conditioning system would not be able to fight off the heat as central air conditioning could. So I am stuck with that it seems. But the heating is taken care of by way of purchasing a geothermal heat pump. I will be calling the local heat and a/c company to order and schedule the installation of the heat pump this coming week. I want this in my home as soon as humanly possible as we have some real cold weather coming.
