Humidity damaging the floors in our home

Over the summer, the weather conditions in our region is tepid and humid.

I thought that just having a/c and keeping the windows open would be enough to compensate for these weather conditions. In the past, I’ve still observed the humidity, however I figured I was doing the best I could to combat it. This past winter, I had brand new hardwood floors put into our home. When the summer time rolled around, I observed that the floors were starting to change in shape and even splinter in some spots. I contacted the supplier that installed the floors and they came and took a look. They said that the humidity in our apartment was causing the destruction and our best option was to look into a whole apartment dehumidifier. I contacted a Heating and Cooling supplier immediately because I didn’t want the destruction to get worse. They sent an Heating as well as Air Conditioning specialist to take a look. The specialist said I was able to install a dehumidifier that would connect directly to our existing central air system. As the apartment cools from the central air, the dehumidifier also operates and detachs moisture from the air. I told them to install the dehumidifier as soon as possible, and they were able to make it happen later that week. Luckily, the floors were not permanently destructiond. I’m ecstatic I was able to fix the concern before our brand new floors were completely ruined.
