All he wanted to do was sleep all the time.

I was waiting for my son to get out of bed and go to school.

I didn’t want to leave for work before he got up. I talked to his instructor, and told him he had been sick and wasn’t sleeping well, but he didn’t care. He reminded me that as adults, we sometimes did things we didn’t want to do, even though we were sick. I was afraid he wouldn’t accept him back at class, but he said that as long as he made to class on time, his position was secure. I knew this meant that my son had to get out of bed and get to school. I picked up two pots and clanged them together in front of his face. He simply pulled the covers over his head and hid away from me. I then told him the truth. If he didn’t get to class on time, they were going to cut him from HVAC class, and he would lose his money. I didn’t think he wanted to lose his money, or his chance to be an HVAC technician. He jumped out of bed and didn’t even bother getting a shower. He then hollered that I should have tried harder to wake him up. Today was a big exam for him, at the HVAC school. If he passed, he was line for an apprenticeship at the instructor’s HVAC company. I’m glad I pushed him to get out of bed. I asked him why it took so long to get him out of bed. He told me he studied all night so he could easily pass the test.
