When mom said she wanted to come stay with me for a little while. I knew my dad had messed up again. He’s hurt her many times in the past, but mom always stayed with him. Even after finding out he has a love child with another woman, mom was there ensuring we were fine. She said her goal was to make sure we grew up and finished college. After that, she’d think about her life. Mom arrived at my door a day after we spoke with her clothes in 3 suitcases. When dad tried to reach her, she said she needed time. However, I saw in her eyes that she wanted a fresh start, and I was ready to help her in any way. Mom was at my place one afternoon when I was at work when she called to say something was wrong with the AC. It had stopped working so she’d gone outside to investigate why the outdoor unit wasn’t working. Mom discovered the AC was covered in ice and she took a picture which she promptly sent to me. I was worried about the frozen air conditioner, so I phoned a nearby HVAC business for assistance. I have a service and repair agreement with them. Such jobs like figuring out why my air conditioner was frozen was what they did. The HVAC techs were out, so I had to book an appointment for the next day. Otherwise, I’d have to pay extra for emergency repair which was costly. After arranging for air conditioner repair, I asked mom to fetch a portable air conditioner from one of the closets in the house. We’d use that until someone came to take care of the faulty air conditioner.
