Your HVAC Troubleshooting Guys

Many of my close friends are always complaining they are cold and they can’t even get hot in bed.

I am quite the opposite type.

I can’t stay cool enough. I normally have my feet and legs out from under the sheets. I leave my hands on top of the blankets, or I begin to sweat. My fiance Al is continually complaining because I am always pulling the covers off him when I flip them around, then where almost everyone are seeking for better heating for the winter, I would care about to have a bed that cools me down, however can you imagine pressing a button and have air conditioning come up through the mattress? Mattresses can now promise heat and massage. My fiance recliner offers heat and massage. My inquiry to this is that what happens when someone wants cooling air separate from massage, but I want a bed that offers a cooling feature and not just in the pillowcases and sheets. Believe me when I say that these do not work. Cooling sheets and pillowcases seem cooler because of how they are made, but in the middle of the night, I still believe I have a blast furnace blowing all over me. I want to believe my air conditioning is blowing over me, so I can sleep like a baby. I believe it sounds nuts to want air conditioning in the middle of winter, however I absolutely don’t. I just want to be comfortable when I sleep, and there should be some way for Al to have his heat and I have my cooling.

When the Heating and A/C tech arrived to talk about our current furnace, he was saying all those parts that kept our furnace running efficiently.

He talked about the combustion chamber, a heat exchanger and a blower motor.

I knew what the blower motor was. That was the section of the system that pushed the heat into my HVAC ducts. I also knew what the air filtration compartment was because I often changed the air filters. The thermal coupling and manifold had me just as lost as when he said about the combustion chamber, however I could figure all of that out. The more he talked, the more boggled my mind was getting. It was like listening to a nurse tell you what they were going to do while in surgery, and you were already groggy from the IV drugs. I asked my fiance Bob if he would explain, since he was listening raptly. Bob told me to wait a couple hours, and he would explain after the Heating and A/C tech left! All of us ordered our furnace, and I sat through it all. After the Heating and A/C tech left, I asked Bob to explain what all the things were that he had been talking about. Bob explained about the combustion chamber, blower motor, and air filter, which I already knew about. I questioned Bob about the other stuff. Bob laughed and said he did not know, but the Heating and A/C corporation made it sound more important. I don’t remember having laughed so hard in quite some time. Bob finally shrugged and said if he were an Heating and A/C corporation, he could answer my question. Bob said he was as confused as I was.

When the Heating and A/C corporate rep arrived last, I was already prepared for him to tell me I needed an updated furnace… I had been getting service after service done over the past several years, and I didn’t believe the old furnace could handle anymore.

I knew my bank could not handle anymore repairs. I wasn’t sure my bank account could handle the cost of a current heater either, but if I had to purchase one, I would find the spare cash. It wasn’t even that cash was the issue with buying the current furnace, and the issue was that I could not get another furnace like the one I had. This furnace has served me well for the last twenty-several years. I appreciated the heat it gave me, and I liked how quietly it worked. The only thing I didn’t like was how much cash it was costing me in constant repairs for the last several years. I’m pretty sure that cash could have gone for a down-payment on a current heater, and covered a hefty chunk of the cost… My fiance Ed told me we had to bite the bullet and put out the cash, but i wanted to find the perfect furnace for our home. Ed and I wanted energy efficiency, and I wanted one that would be quiet. I’m not sure I absolutely knew what I needed other than that, but it had to be as trustworthy as the outdated furnace, and I wasn’t sure that was possible. I’m going to leave the decision on the furnace to Ed, as he has a fantastic head for making costly purchases.

I worried about not having the furnace working in the house.

It was getting dark outside, and I didn’t like sitting there knowing it was only going to get colder.

I didn’t know when the HVAC technician was going to arrive, and I was afraid I was going to freeze to death. I left a note on the door and signed it with my name and phone number. I asked the HVAC technician to call me when he arrived and I would be there in two minutes. I headed to my neighbors house to get warm. It was nearly two hours later, when the HVAC technician called and told me he was at the house. He told me to unlock the door and he would call when he was finished with the furnace. I didn’t like the idea of leaving a stranger in the house when I wasn’t there, and I thanked him but said no thank you. My neighbor’s husband told me to stay in the house, and he would babysit the HVAC technician. I didn’t feel right asking him to leave his warm house, but he insisted. It took less than an hour to get my furnace running, and he said it should work for a while, but he wouldn’t wait to have the furnace replaced. He thought I should make the arrangements in the next couple of days, and I would have heat for the holidays. This sounded urgent, and when my neighbor’s husband told me he was serious, I talked to the HVAC technician about what kind of furnace I needed.
