Your HVAC Troubleshooting Guys

My young niece is crying.

She is upset because her vacation was ruined.

Well, I don’t see how a broken phone equals a ruined vacation but then again I am not a 12 year old. I made the mistake of inviting my brother and his family up for a week over the holiday. I haven’t seen my brother Dillan in a few years and I thought we would all have fun together. I bought sleds for the kids and turned on the old gas stove. I remember, when Dillan and I were younger we had this wood stove that our parents would light up whenever it snowed. After we were done playing in the snow we would put our wet boots and gloves near the fireplace and they would dry out quickly. Well, I didn’t want to deal with all of that wood chopping so I got a gas stove for my house. I turned it on for the kids to enjoy but they just stared at their phones the whole time. They weren’t interested in sledding at all. Then my niece left her cell phone on the gas stove overnight. Now the phone is completely destroyed. Of course it is. I guess they have an electric stove fireplace at home. That thing is all plastic and doesn’t get hot on top like a gas stove does. Oh well, these things happen. Maybe now she will have fun playing outside instead of staring at a screen all day. Either that or Dillan will run into town and buy her a new phone. It doesn’t much matter to me.

I hate our HOA.

They are always in everybody’s business and they just love to impose fines for the smallest infractions.

Just last month I got a fine for having 1 dandelion week on my lawn. Can you believe it? It was only 1 weed. Well anyway, I try to avoid dealing with the HOA as much as possible. However, my neighbor made me finally have to break down and make a report. The problem is that my neighbor has an extremely loud furnace. Whenever it kicks on it makes this terrible squealing sound. It sounds like someone burning rubber with their tires. I am sure it is just a loose belt in the HVAC unit but it wakes me up every single night. I haven’t slept well in weeks because of the furnace sound. I used to be able to sleep between the squealing noises but I find that I can’t anymore. I think this is because I am on edge waiting for the sound to happen again. I know if I fall asleep I will only be awoken again by the loud noise almost immediately. This had been going on for over a week now and I am surprised no one has reported the noisy furnace to the HOA yet. I kept waiting for someone else to do it but it is clear now that I will have to be the one to report the noisy furnace myself. It is either that, or I will never get any sleep. I prefer getting some sleep even if that does mean that I have to become a rat.

A friend of mine used to work for a pet store.

Sadly, the pet store closed their doors when this whole virus thing started.

They just couldn’t afford to stay open anymore. Most of the pets were sold but there were still several that needed homes. In the end, the employees ended up taking them home. My friend was the one who ended up with most of the reptiles. To be fair, before she started she already had leopard gecko and a tarantula. Now she has 3 frogs, 8 spiders, and 6 lizards. They are all different types but they all have one thing in common: they all like heat. My friend loves all of her pets and has the space for them. She lives in a 3 bedroom house and she gave 2 of the rooms to the pets. She recently told me that she is getting zoned HVAC installed in her house for the pets. I thought this would require that she get a whole new HVAC system but that is not the case. In fact, she is just getting dampers installed in her ductwork. That makes it so that every room in the house can have its own thermostat. Zone control like this is a lot less expensive than getting different HVAC systems in each part of the house is. Additionally, it should save her some money. Just closing off the vents doesn’t do much as far as energy saving goes. However, zoned HVAC does. I am happy for her. Now her and all of her pets will be happy and comfortable.

However, my buddy made me finally have to split down and make a report. The problem is that my buddy has an severely loud furnace. Whenever it kicks on it makes this exhausting squealing sound. It sounds like someone burning rubber with their tires. I am sure it is just a loose belt in the Heating as well as Air Conditioning unit but it wakes me up every single evening. I haven’t slept well in weeks because of the furnace sound. I used to be able to sleep between the squealing noises even though I find that I can’t anymore.
