People typically have a routine when it comes to their sleeping habits. For me, I like to do my skincare routine, brush my teeth, put on comfortable pajamas, and read for about a half an hour before bed. I know that might be a lot for other people because sometimes you just want to go straight to bed and fall asleep with the TV on. However, my bedtime routine makes me feel good, so I don’t care if it is too much for some people. In fact, my bedtime rituals extend to my temperature preferences. I like to keep my air conditioning on really high while I’m sleeping. I prefer to sleep in a cool setting because I like to have thick, warm blankets on my bed year round. When friends and family stay with me, they always comment on how cold I keep my room. Sometimes I will adjust the temperature to accommodate their preferences, but when it’s just me, I keep it as cool as 60 degrees. Additionally, I use a portable humidifier. I like to keep the humidifier on in my room because it helps me to breathe better. It also makes me more comfortable with the cool temperatures. Dry air feels a lot cooler than warm air. I don’t like when HVAC systems dry me out, so my humidifier prevents that from happening. As long as I follow my routine, I sleep quite soundly, and that’s all that matters to me.
