Flu season was upon us, and I had just fallen victim to it.

One guy at the office came in one morning and was sneezing so much.

Our boss told him it was okay to go home and rest. But, the damage had been done, and I began to feel the tell-tale signs. The next morning, I woke up with pain in my throat. Plus, I was feeling dizzy. These were sure signs that I had the flu, but I chose not to stay home. Day one was okay, but I had a fever the following morning and chose not to go to the office. My brother called to check up on me and requested I turn on the HVAC system. At first, I tried to protect myself because it wasn’t summer, so this was a waste of energy. But, he insisted that HVAC systems are good for flu season. He explained that this was an excellent way to ensure the house had good air quality. I had to use the unit to get rid of the germs circulating in my home. Since I’d told him that I was feeling chilly, my brother explained an HVAC system would help keep the house warm. That was a rookie mistake for me. I had a perfectly functioning heating and air conditioning unit but was wrapped in a blanket, shivering. There was no need for my brother to keep trying to convince me. I groggily got up and went to turn on the HVAC system. Next was adjusting the thermostat so that warm air would flow into the property. Within 15 minutes, I felt warmer though the flu was still beating me up.

• My partner was more excited than I was.

I’d just finished a huge project and wanted some time to relax at home. But, we had to stuff three kids in a truck and drive for miles to this new spot. I complained from the day my partner begged me to agree to go. I told him I’d go, but I’d whine the whole way. It turns out all that was for nothing because I wanted to move to the lake house. It was in an amazing spot, and my brother had just installed a new heat pump. He is a certified heating and AC expert with about 15 years. My brother knows the ins and out of cooling systems, and I’d trust him to fix the unit in my home any day. As we had dinner that first night, we spoke about the heat pump he’d chosen for his new lake house. My brother explained that heat pumps do cost a lot of money. However, they were worth it. A good heat pump can last more than 2 decades. Only needing to change the model would necessitate an upgrade before time elapses. But, never forget to get regular tune-ups and check-ups to ensure the unit is in tip-top shape. I always thought there was no point in servicing heat pumps, but my brother told me that was a myth. Since heat pumps are used in summer and winter, servicing and repair are part of the package. Those who fail to do so end up reducing the unit’s lifespan.

I have been waiting for this day for a long time. Tomorrow is the day I get my brand new and up to date central heating and air conditioning system that I have been waiting on for a while! I had ordered this top of the line, brand new and up to date central heating and air conditioning system. I ordered it from my local heat and a/c supplier. They had to special order it for me because they were sold out. That was how popular this brand and model heating and air conditioning system was. Well I am so over the moon with joy and glee that my brand new and up to date central heating and air conditioning system is finally here! Tomorrow morning I have my local heat and a/c company sending out a few certified heating and cooling specialists to deliver and install my brand new, up to date, very expensive and totally powerful central heating and air conditioning system unit! I really can not wait because my old heating and air conditioning system has not been giving me the best possible indoor comfort. It is on its way out so the power and air flow just isn’t as good as it used to be. But as of tomorrow that will be no more! I will have my brand new central heating and air conditioning system and be living in the greatest indoor comfort for the first time in a long time. It has been so long since I had decent heat and a/c that I can not actually tell you when that was.

I have been working in the heating and air conditioning business as a certified heat and a/c specialist for many years now.

• I have to tell you that I am totally burned out.

I am sick of heating and air conditioning and everything related to it. It may be time to have a midlife change of careers to be honest. I probably should not have gone into the heating and air conditioning business to begin with. But at the time it sounded like a good thing to do. I mean after all, I never had an interest in heating and air conditioning growing up. This was all a spur of the moment thing just to find some sort of career to get into because I really did not know what I wanted to do, but had to make a choice fast when I was about to graduate high school. Many of my peers went into things like law, business management and even the restaurant business. One of those things would be better suited for me. I just simply can not stand heating and air conditioning anymore! I am going to start looking into options of schools to go to at night to get a degree in something while I work as a certified heat and a/c specialist in the day. Then once I figure it out and get my degree, it will be goodbye heating and air conditioning and good riddance! I can not wait for the day I can do this. But for now, I must make a living, so it’s fixing heating and air conditioning units for the next little while.
